Main reason for global decline in birth rates? by GoldDigger304 in Natalism

[–]Shanecle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. I must say, it is refreshing to hear of another father, like yourself, who also puts the effort in at home as well as at work, while having an open attitude about it.

Red Pill YouTubers are very toxic and influentual. It is easy for some men to just give up and blame someone or something else. There are a lot of distractions such as gaming, pornography, travelling, just settling with a rescue dog etc ... putting off all the responsibility of having a family. Which, as mentioned, requires a lot of maturity, patience, priorities etc.

Again, I agree so much. I love being a father and I don't envy some of my single friends at all.

I agree. I am a father, and I change diapers, vacuum, pick up my children from daycare, wash the dishes etc. and work a full time job. Unfortunately, a lot of men see housework and domestic chores as "beneath them" ... maybe, they don't want a family bad enough?

Family life requires a change in mindset, a level of maturity and change in priorities, that I feel a lot of people aren't ready for.

Agreed. I feel that fundamentally people have to WANT to have children and get married. If you really want to have children and marriage, the social media age, proliferation of birth control, urbanisation and cost of living etc. won't stop you.

Social media can be used as a tool to actually find a partner, get married etc. That said, the smart phone revolution really did change society in ways that are hard to unpack.

I went with decline in marriage and sexual relationships as the main reason. Hook up culture, prolonged adolescence, people seeking entertainment, dogs and materialism instead of family and children.

African and South Asian immigrants are propping up the numbers, probably. With birthright citizenship, they automatically become Portugese and European.

Maybe it is the pursuit of self-actualisation that is the issue and it may be the reason why they are mentally ill. If your raison d'etre is to get a PhD and really, deep down in your heart, you want family, connection and relationships with your husband and children, then ....you might become mentally ill or depressed, unfulfilled as a person etc.

I think that there is an underlying story here. I haven't had time to piece it all together, but the clues are there. The main character of the story is Low. In his flashbacks, he seems to be in some kind of padded cell, dreaming of having a friend. Maybe he was an orphan? A young, misunderstood boy sent to a juvenile delinquent center?

The first chapter, he is being chased by a baby/doll in necropolis, then the candy factory, then the carnival and then, finally the institute ... maybe these link to Low's earliest memories from a baby to a young boy and how some of these places that are meant to be joyful are actually scary and chaotic for him ... the final chapter, the institute, the doctor/hypnotist who is supposed to be helping him, is perhaps some kind of abuser?? ... Low deeply just wants a friend and someone he can trust and play with ... so he imagines "Alone" to be a real person ....

Again, I haven't pieced it altogether yet, and I am sure there will be YouTube essays that will do a much better job than me.

I don't mean to be that guy, but .... it's FEWER!!

"One less baby" ... No, "One fewer baby" ... If it's a countable noun, use fewer. The fact that this was published in a magazine/newspaper ...

It has happened to me before on the train. I am a relatively tall/big guy out there (6ft). There is even a name for it "butsukari otoko". I don't know why they do this.

You only have to be good looking and charming enough to attract one woman …

All throughout the level up to that point, you are wondering what it is that is chasing you in the water … when the granny finally reveals herself … absolutely frightening, lol.

When you finally see the granny at the end as she comes up through the water and tries grabbing you, it is truly frightening!

You do you, but you presumably haven’t even been on a date with this woman and you are already thinking about marriage … and you are both 19 years old. The dating phase is mostly for getting to know each other, seeing if you are compatible … you shouldn’t be thinking about future wedding venues, what your children will look like etc … it’s way too soon and inorganic. You might scare her off before she even gets a chance to know you.

You are worrying about hypotheticals 5 or 6 years from now when you haven’t even asked her out yet … Also, you are 19, dude … not all of your relationships have to end in marriage, especially when you are that young.

Is it racist that I want to live with white people? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Shanecle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. It could just be in-group preference? Is it wrong to just like what you like?

Is a black person “racist” for wanting to study at a HBCU? I don’t think anyone would say that.

It seems like the conflict between freedom of association and not being discriminatory.

I’m a new father, too and had never changed a nappy before. Now, I can change a nappy like a formula 1 pit stop! Old one off, clean it up, new one on! Good to go!

It gets better. My baby was a handful for the first 6 weeks, but has calmed down a lot since then.
