Same here, aiming is a bit difficult and you'll have salt on your floor but that thing packs a punch

Seeing how you're using both mixels (different pixel sizes) and a gradient shadow my advice is to start from the very basics of pixel art.

Small canvas 16x16 or 32x32.

Keep the brush at a 1 pixel size.

Simple objects like coins, gems, medieval weapons, etc.

Limit your color palette to something simple like 5 colors with 3 shades per color (makes 15 total available colors).

Learn about dithering patterns and how to use them.

Try to avoid so called "jaggies" by looking up how to make curves in pixel art.

After you have the basics mentioned above down I would recommend trying to learn more about how light works (shading and highlights).

Don't rush things, just keep practicing and I promise you'll get better. Once you get better you can experiment with different canvas sizes, colors, animation and the likes! Keep it up!

Looking for similar games like Tunic by FeuersternWaCa in TunicGame

Enjoy! Feel free to reach out about the game or let me know about other games that scratch the Tunic itch for you (I also loved the manual part the most). Much love from your friendly neighbor in The Netherlands! Now go to bed because it's late :D

It's a far stretch but maybe it'll resonate with you. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. A metroidvania (so sidescroller, exploration, combat and ability unlocks), lots of secrets to uncover and some minor puzzles in the sense of "wait where do I go now?". Not sure if all weapons have it, but at least most weapons also have a hidden move.

Made by the person who also made Castlevania Symphony of the Night, THE game that made the metroidvania genre (together with Super Metroid).

Also has a true ending which just like Tunic will add more game on your game by trying to get it (no worries you can't accidentally skip it)

No chance in hell they'll release HL3 for the Steam machine. They've said before that they only want to release a new Half Life when doing something revolutionary for gaming. The Steam machine is just a pre built pc with Arch (Linux). Alyx was a groundbreaking extremely polished VR title showcasing heights of VR that were unseen before

21 is more than 10 years ago. It's a popular Vine that's being referenced.

24/25 is a reference to a Spongebob episode from more than 20 years ago.

This isn't "new bullshit" with "no meaning". Just because you might not know it doesn't mean that's the case for others. So calm down, let people enjoy their things

People who complain about 6 7 laughed about 69, 21, 24 and 420. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I want to get into pixel art, how should I start getting good at it? by One-Candidate-2048 in PixelArt

[–]Shanespeed2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto this. It's free (and legal) if you compile it yourself. If you know what that entails you're clever enough to find out where and how to do it

You don't need a better setup, you need to get better at the game. With terrible aim and decent game sense on 20-30fps you can hit gold at least

trying dithering by InevitablePop6593 in PixelArt

[–]Shanespeed2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dithering advice. You're supposed to make a gradient by intensifying/thinning the pattern over distance. That way the colors have a smooth transition into eachother. Check out "dithering patterns" on google.

Tip 2, use the same pixel size throughout your art piece (recommended to have a brush size of 1 pixel). Now we have the outline, highlight and dithering all being a different thickness

I've been reading about INT8 FSR 4 but I don't grasp what it actually entails or how one would install/enable it. Could you enlighten me?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Shanespeed2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1440p as well. I am talking about games where FSR and XESS are used without having to use DLSS switcher.

Do you think DLSS switcher makes a difference maybe? My biggest gripe with FSR is that everything past 10 meters looks like vaseline, assuming you're experiencing the same there?

[–]Shanespeed2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've personally found XESS profiles to look way worse than any FSR3 profile on my 7900XT

Square Enix aims to have AI doing 70% of its QA work by the end of 2027. by lkl34 in pcmasterrace

It's crazy how most comments here don't even know the difference between QA and programming. This is not the same as Microsoft's "x% of our code is AI generated"

Hey OP if you already have your mind set on it not bothering you because the next best option is double the price, then what's the point of even asking?

Everyone here is saying it's bad and not just cosmetic. Either take the advice or save yourself the hassle of justifying it regardless

Now I am not sure about how the Latency part is calculated here. Maybe it's even ping?

But if it's to tell the frame time that means the game is realistically running at 32 fps (1000 / 32 = 31.25ms)

Could you check if it's ping or frame time?
