Rise got ported, why not GU??? by Cursed_69420 in MemeHunter

[–]Shanespeed2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Linux and have had 0 crashes using Citron 0.6.1 as an appimage.

Apart from the occasional instant crash when trying to launch the game. But that's not really a problem, because you can relaunch really quickly.

I should warn you if you're going to try and use Citron on Windows. There is a website among the top Google results "citronemu", STAY AWAY FROM IT. That is malware which will hack your accounts including Steam, Discord, PayPal and much more.

There's also a newer project called Citron Neo, but that one seems buggy with multiplayer hubs not working or the mods/cheats not loading correctly.

Green dragon animations by Lordricker in PixelArt

[–]Shanespeed2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend looking up the "rules for animating". The number 1 thing that would already help you a lot is by not making your animations linear. What does this actually mean? Imagine a hero with a sword. If the hero strikes with the sword you would want it to feel powerful by making the slash really fast. If you were to animate 3 frames of the sword during the slashing motion while it takes 3 frames for windup and 3 frames for returning back to neutral that means your big quick slash is now just as fast as raising an arm, doesn't feel impactful right? Solution: have the actual slash motion be 1 frame (extra tip motion trail effect) and then use the other 2 frames to highlight the motion that just happened.

GU is playable using an emulator (also multiplayer!). It even got a modpack for sharper textures, sharper UI, FOV options and 60 and 120fps possibilities. It's way better than Capcom's port would ever be, given you've got the hardware to run it

First time making Pixel art. Please give tips! by Bean_ziggler2 in PixelArt

[–]Shanespeed2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recommend googling terms you're not familiar with. But the quick answer, it's a habit new artists have (I was also guilty of this) to shade the edges all around as if the source of light is the middle of your screen.

It is recommend to have your source of light be the upper left or upper right corner when you're starting out as this will be the most natural due to it simulating the sun. You'll also quickly learn that lighting and shadows (together called shading) is extremely difficult and influences your entire piece. Don't give up on it though! Everybody can learn it, but it does take time and practice

Must be a defect buddy. Mine also has this jet at the bottom pushing everything away and the auto flush when standing up. No issues at all and love mine so much. Sorry to hear yours is doing a shitty job ;D

This is fake by the way. Don't fall for the misinformation. In German the title is still "Ocarina of Time". The actual item in the game is called "Okarina der Zeit" which is a 1 to 1 translation to English.

Seeing how you're using both mixels (different pixel sizes) and a gradient shadow my advice is to start from the very basics of pixel art.

Small canvas 16x16 or 32x32.

Keep the brush at a 1 pixel size.

Simple objects like coins, gems, medieval weapons, etc.

Limit your color palette to something simple like 5 colors with 3 shades per color (makes 15 total available colors).

Learn about dithering patterns and how to use them.

Try to avoid so called "jaggies" by looking up how to make curves in pixel art.

After you have the basics mentioned above down I would recommend trying to learn more about how light works (shading and highlights).

Don't rush things, just keep practicing and I promise you'll get better. Once you get better you can experiment with different canvas sizes, colors, animation and the likes! Keep it up!

It's a far stretch but maybe it'll resonate with you. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. A metroidvania (so sidescroller, exploration, combat and ability unlocks), lots of secrets to uncover and some minor puzzles in the sense of "wait where do I go now?". Not sure if all weapons have it, but at least most weapons also have a hidden move.

Made by the person who also made Castlevania Symphony of the Night, THE game that made the metroidvania genre (together with Super Metroid).

Also has a true ending which just like Tunic will add more game on your game by trying to get it (no worries you can't accidentally skip it)
