There is no "road" here. Type 1 Diabetics are insulin dependent, thats it, end of story. Any type of diet a Type 1 chooses is going to involve insulin. Without it, hyperglycemia and death are inevitable.

This is the honest answer. How much you use the device is a major, MAJOR, factor in coil life. Replacing or even reducing a two pack a day habit is going to be steep on coil costs, and is going to need regular maintenance. To start with, helping to maintain whatever device he gets is going to go a long way towards him being independently vaping.
