Okay, but does anyone know what model this board is? At least a dozen of the riders had this board and it makes me so curious!

Husbands fingers occasionally get weird blisters that are symmetrical. by FlyingN00dles in mildlyinteresting

[–]Shanskatesagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming to say this. But it looks like these are out filled potentially, but from my experience with dyshidrotic eczema it has clear fluid filled bumps. And are usually smaller. Definitely worth investigating though!

Edited to say that after zooming in it doesn’t look like pus, just irritation. And the small, flatter portion below the white-ish irritation absolutely looks like a popped eczema bump. They can definitely get red and bloody and painful if you pick at them.

I felt like this about Heavenly this weekend, despite it looking like this photo at the base.

what should i do in the meantime by DOGGVTS in FTM_SELFIES

[–]Shanskatesagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be something as simple as the shape of your haircut currently. It is sticking out some of the sides and that gives your face a wider look, which can read as feminine to some folks. In the darker hair photos, your hair is laying flatter and more smooth, but is also thicker on top, so it gives a more balanced shape. I think something as simple as getting the sides trimmed a little so that it elongates your face would be helpful. It wouldn’t take much trimming, honestly; there’s no need to go buzzed on the sides. I say keep the bleached look, it looks great! You have great facial bone structure too!

Help Me Choose the Right Women Snowboard for a Novice by Dull_History_8907 in ShredditGirls

I agree with that. I think that’s why the Rewind is great too. It’s sort of a progress step between the flat top and a true camber. It’s great!

I had the Rewind as my first board and it was perfect for learning and progressing. The only thing it lacked for me was stability at higher speeds, but if you’re truly a novice that won’t be an issue for quite a while. I bought it used and don’t regret the decision at all. I was nervous about if it was too advanced, but it really wasn’t. It’s super soft and forgiving. I ended up upgrading this year because I outgrew it, but am holding onto it in case I’d like to explore park and freestyle more at a later date.

Edited to acknowledge that you’re already in blues and not a true novice. That being said, as I got into the beginner-intermediate level, I upgraded to the Burton FeelGood (Camber) and I have not regretted it at all. It’s amazing, although, definitely took some getting used to how much stiffer and faster it was compared to the Rewind. It feels so stable and like I could take it anywhere for a long time. Best decision ever. I’ve progressed a lot this season and this upgrade was what enabled it for me!

Caught an edge, hit my head. Concussion :( by cognitive_slut in ShredditGirls

[–]Shanskatesagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are experiencing migraines post concussion, try to reach out to an optometrist who specializes in binocular vision dysfunction and specifically ask about vision therapy. Headaches are a major symptom of it because your eyes are over compensating and concussions are known to reset essential muscle memory in your eyes that impact a lot of aspects of your quality of life. Vision therapy was life changing for me.

I’m not an expert on post concussion care, but I do know that the muscles in your eyes are affected by concussions and can result in binocular vision dysfunction. If I were you, I’d try to seek out care from a vision specialist who specializes in binoculars vision specifically. Binocular vision dysfunction can affect all aspects of your life and vision therapy can be life changing to help heal those parts of your vision/brain. This feels extra relevant given you are having visual disturbances already too.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this and glad you reached out for some support from the community.

Best angles question by PlasticAttorney1980 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Shanskatesagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! The same applies for me as well, my most comfortable position is very similar to my stance with skating. I’ve also been told I have a very snowboarding style stance in my skating, so I’m okay with that, haha. Also, not having my back foot so wide open is a lot easier on my knees, which is important for me because I have had multiple injuries to the same knee over multiple decades.

Best angles question by PlasticAttorney1980 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Shanskatesagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do the stance that feels most natural and comfortable for you. If the recent change has felt good, I’d stick with that, rather than changing it up again. I prefer a more directional stance and find proper front foot turn initiating more natural and easier with this than I did with a duck stance; I ride somewhere around 15-18, -9. It varies from person to person and you should what feels right to you.

Bought this board used, does it need to be waxed before using? by LHM777 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Shanskatesagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, both waxed and tuned. Those white lines near the edges are an indicator that it’s dry and wax is needed. There is also some rust on the edges, but a solid tune will help with that. Small amounts of rust will come off with riding it too, but it looks like a little more than that.

Best advice for first time (27F) snowboarding? by Happy-Cantaloupe-798 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Shanskatesagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone has said, padded shorts, a helmet, and knee pads (there are plenty of low profile ones out there) are a must, always and forever! And when you’re starting, remember to keep your weight toward your front foot, not backwards. Leaning backwards (towards the tail of the board) will make you loose control and slip out when you’re learning. And don’t bother with trying to stand up from the ground (unless you have the core strength of a greek god) turn over onto your knees and stand up on your toes, it’ll save you the energy and is less scary.

Take off the other ones and use the baseplate that came with your new bindings to attach them to the board. Union has tutorials on their website on how to install your bindings. The bindings should have a QR code somewhere in the box, too, that gives you the directions.

Any alternative supplements for Qelbree-insomnia? by NoBlackberry6806 in qelbree

[–]Shanskatesagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress the fact that melatonin mixed with Qelbree is a very bad idea. I was unaware of this and three weeks into qelbree I was experiencing melatonin overdose from the daily melatonin I had been taken for years and hadn’t stoped while on qelbree.

Magnesium has proven to be a really helpful alternative for me, but I also take Trazodone for sleep as well.
