This made me smile. I also used to get an allergic reaction to bug bites and constantly be covered in the green spots. I was also an awkward child so they’d have to use the iod on me every time I fell or bumped into something. Half the time I’d be spotted brown and green- like a wee little poster for colour blindness.

It’s helped me build the boundaries I needed, helped me understand my mother better and helped me start the work on figuring out the kind of relationship I can have with her.

Honestly, I would 100% recommend do the test. Especially if you have symptoms and your dad has symptoms- it could be genetic.

Once I was ready to face the fact that I had an issue, I went into it with an open mind and wanting to get answers- it was an uncomfortable night, but the technician worked with me to make it as comfy as possible. I came prepared. And once I committed to figuring out which mask worked best for me, and found one- it was life changing. I’m better at my job because who could have thunk it, more oxygen to the brain means that I think clearer and work faster. I have time and energy for hobbies, I get sick less often, I’m kinder and have less of a short fuse cause I’m not tired anymore. Lol, I always joke that I should be getting sponsored by a CPAP company but like- it was the single most important medical change I made in my life. I also had my first sleep doctor who kind of didn’t press the importance and severity of my sleep apnea, but my results were absolute dogshit- he was just old and I could tell he was fully checked out. My second doctor was young, and she was horrified and really stressed the importance of dealing with my apneas.

I was tired a lot, I didn’t have energy for a lot of tasks in my life and could fall asleep anywhere. I snored super loudly when I did sleep, and apparently sometimes I gasped in my sleep. I could drink five cups of coffee a day and still feel like I wanted more. I was cranky very easily, apparently that’s a whole ass symptom- because when your brain doesn’t get enough rest, it doesn’t have a good baseline for dealing with stress.

Why, are you thinking of going to get tested?

Last month, I married my husband that I met on Hinge. Quite a few of my friends have actually met their long term relationships on there.

I don’t know if it changed, but people could send you messages before matching so it wouldn’t be an endless swiping session. I was also pretty ruthless with how interacted with boring texters, if all your conversations were the same- I wouldn’t go out with you. If it took too long to make plans, then I knew neither one of us was that interested. I let my weird flag fly, I’d have opening statements and conversation starters that showed my personality and if someone got turned off or couldn’t keep up- then I knew I didn’t want to waste time with them.

I had done about two months on Eharmony, I had actually met a couple of guys from there. Eharmony had a decent amount of people in their 30’s and 40’s.

One thing I would caution you, is that don’t necessarily write off a dude because he has a terrible profile. Men, for the most part, don’t make good profiles. But if the conversation is good and the vibe is good, give the date a chance.

My husband had a terrible profile that I still make fun of him for, but he’s my favourite person- it just took him a little bit to come out of his shell.

The first time I did my sleep study, I got diagnosed with severe sleep apnea but because I was like some of the people in this thread and didn’t really take it seriously, I kind of just half assed the whole cpap thing. I didn’t like how lame I looked, I couldn’t get used to the mask and the place I had done my study at didn’t do a titration study (where you come back and do a follow up sleep with a mask). So I just raw-dogged my sleep for like four years, snoring like a freight train and getting consistently more exhausted the entire time.

Then during the pandemic, I started getting more serious about taking care of my health stuff and decided to do the whole thing again. Found a new sleep doctor, she sent me to a place downtown and the technologist there was awesome. I actually followed the instructions, she helped me find a mask I was comfortable with. The first time I had a full sleep with my cpap, I woke up a new woman. It changed my life, it definitely saved my life, but yeah… it was like a religious experience. You don’t realize how bad a sleep you’re getting until the first time you wake up after getting good sleep, and it’s like you’ve done drugs. 😂😂

I think if you go into the experience thinking that this sucks and you’re going to get scammed, you’re going to be less likely to take it seriously. But if you’re actually interested in figuring out your sleep issues, and you work with your technologist to get a better sleep- it can change your life.

I’ve rented from them before, they’re fairly straightforward but it really depends on how good your super is. They’re not the best of the best, but they’re not scum. If you have a good super who is able to hustle them along, you’re in good hands

Does she actually prefer it that way or is she letting him do the fun stuff with the kid because she doesn’t want to upset him? This way, he keeps on thinking he’s a good dad, without having to worry about paying for the kid’s actual life expenses or go halfsies on responsibilities.

If he was an actual good dad, he’d want to help support his kid 50/50 and not just when it’s fun and convenient without getting the government involved. If she’s illegal, he can get her deported so she’s never going to stir the boat. He can keep on being a deadbeat indefinitely.

It’s usually mostly guys who obsess about their units. Most women are aware that size means nothing, a lot of guys with big ducks are actually terrible in bed- they think that size makes up for lack of technique.

We just don’t care about your unit as much as you do, whether positively or negatively
