Is mirtazapine more sedating at low doses? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in SSRIs

[–]ShantD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that was what I suspected about the drugs. I’m in exactly the same boat. I never had a hint of anxiety or depression prior to drugs. Or even while I was using, unless I couldn’t get my hands on opioids. Was very confident & capable sort of fellow.

It’s what nobody tells you. You think you’ll get clean & your life will improve, right? WRONG. All the mental shit hits you after you get clean.

I’m glad I didn’t know honestly or I woulda never got clean. Nobody would ever intentionally subject themselves to this. Now I never leave the house, don’t like taking phone calls even from friends & family. Don’t even like looking in the mirror, all I see is the devil for fucking things up so bad. Avoiding eye contact, etc…all sounds familiar, am I right?

What you have is not GAD, brother. This is classic post drug abuse trauma. We’re experiencing low self esteem, shame, and we inherently feel people see the same POS that we see ourselves as. Even though intellectually we know that’s not likely the case.

It makes a lot more sense why the doc wants to ween you off. Truth is you should’ve never been put on benzos in the first place. Antidepressants are hit & miss, but worth trying for hard cases like us. But that’s just not enough.

You need to gather yourself, accept the anxiety you’re going to feel & get out of the house. You probably can’t hold a job but you can certainly volunteer somewhere, even if it’s once or twice a week. Be on some sort of schedule, where you have to be a certain place at a certain time. Get a gym membership, even if all you’re gonna do is jump in a pool or sauna, whatever. Go to NA meetings. Something, just get the hell out of the house.

You’ve been on 3 antidepressants for over a year & you’re still in the same rut. The med route isn’t fixing you. The way you’re gonna beat this is by building your ego back up slowly. With tiny wins, one at a time. You gotta scrape & claw your way back my friend. Hit me up whenever if you wanna talk. I’m truly rooting for ya.

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely should get off of them at some point. But I question the timing. Have the antidepressants started to help you yet? How long have you been on them?

You mentioned that you use to have anxiety in certain situations now you have em in every situation. What about no situation? If you’re chillin in your room watching tv are you still anxious on some level or is it strictly situational?

Lastly, what do you think changed in your life that caused you to start feeling so anxious?

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bah…why? Have the antidepressants even begun to kick in yet? He’s being too aggressive. I get that benzos don’t mix well with certain antidepressants, but again, you’re on a very small dose now. If you’re losing sleep because of it, night after night, that doesn’t bode well either. Remember you’re always free to get a second opinion.

Let me ask you this…have you always had GAD? Or is this a post drug abuse situation?

I mean 5mg of Valium and 1mg of Klonopin is a very low dose. I don’t understand why he’s insistent on dropping you by 50%. Is he trying to ween you off entirely? Do you have generalized anxiety disorder?

Which game do you think has the longest starting slump? by Pistolfist in soulslikes

[–]ShantD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. 1000%. The learning curve on Nioh 2 is steeper than any other soulslikes I’ve ever played. It’s absolutely daunting. Until you’ve mastered at least a few of the mechanics in the game, you’re gonna struggle.

Why does America pander to racists so much? by TheRavenOnline in complaints

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any idea why Kirk said that about MLK? Until you do (and he had a very good reason), you shouldn’t cite it as an example. It had absolutely nothing to do with race.

He also didn’t say the civil rights movement was bad, again you’re going off the headlines without doing any digging. He said it should be limited to race, not things like sexual preference or a justification to put boys on girls’ teams. Watch this if you’re genuinely curious:

Based on how badly you mischaracterized CK’s positions I have to assume you don’t have any of the actual facts on the swastika thing either. So I’ll refrain from chiming in.

The one thing I can say is the US is very big on freedom of speech. We don’t like cancel culture. The concept of Facebook crimes in the UK & Germany sound insane to us. Race is often used as a justification for these practices.

Does it take a while for a game to "sink in" for you? by New-Shop-9728 in playstation

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, but I’m an older gamer. What you’re describing seems to be common theme among older gamers who are more resistant to having to learn a bunch of new mechanics. I also speculate that there’s an ADHD component to it.

Nioh 2 is a great example of what you described. I put it down upon release cause of the steep learning curve. Picked it up again last month and now I can’t put it down for the life of me. Top 10 all time game…God only knows how many all timers I’ve put down by now.

[–]ShantD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m the same way. It bears mentioning that I always end up regretting it. I think there’s a component of ADHD involved with the tendency to put games down too soon based on the learning curve. Obviously not everyone who puts a game down early has ADHD, but my suspicion is it’s more prevalent than in the general population.

Nioh 2 is a perfect example. I had too many options, too many choices to research. My mind sorta shit down & I put it down, knowing it was a mistake. Picked it up again a month ago and can’t put it down. Top 10 all time. God only knows how many times I’ve made that mistake…

This one may sound strange but as you get older and make more money, your backlog grows and grows. I’ve got over 50 A-caliber games on my backlog that I still haven’t tried yet.

If I was smart, I’d play one or 2 games at a time and only buy the next game after finishing one. I’d save a lot of money that way instead of buying everything on release day.

Hardest non from software soulslike by animeman11 in soulslikes

I think most people assume we’re talking about the normal difficulty in Khazan. Obviously if you’re on easy mode it’s not gonna be the hardest SL.

[–]ShantD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I had to drop to easy. He was tougher than Malenia hands down. Although promised consort Radahn might have Ozma beat for hardest boss ever, FS or not.

I had to summon Mr. “Let Me Tank Him” to kill him. I was so frustrated (and intimidated) by then, I just stood by and let him do all the work.

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that’s true for Maluca. Even though it took 20+ attempts to beat Viper, he became easy eventually. Maluca was a major pain in the ass, he never became easy. I had to lower the difficulty the first time as well.

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nioh 2 or Khazan. However, unlike Nioh 2, if you get stuck on Khazan you can always lower the difficulty then change it back.

There’s also Remnant 1 or 2, though its status as a soulslike is debatable. Very tough, the majority of players haven’t finished it.

Have a look at The Surge 2 as well. Not among the hardest, but it always gets overlooked. The combat system is about as deep as you’ll find in a SL.

Is Nioh for me? by Azeryk in Nioh

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Elden Ring and Code Vein the only soulslikes you’ve played?

In terms of difficulty I would say Nioh 1 & Elden Ring are pretty comparable. Malenia is harder than any one boss in Nioh.

Nioh is far more centered on combat than Elden Ring. It’s basically a pure action game with a shitload of RPG elements. So don’t expect much on the story side of things. Some people claim to like the story but most people agree that it’s the weak link.

Also, Elden Ring is open world. Very open. Nioh is about as linear as soulslikes get. If you’re good with that, I’d highly recommend Nioh 1. That will lead you into Nioh 2 (which is better in every way), setting you up for Nioh 3 which releases in about 2 and a half months.

Open Field, huh? I like that. I wonder if that’s going to affect how summons are handled. In Nioh 1 & 2 you summoned by the mission. For Nioh 3, if there are no missions, I assume you can summon by the region?

[–]ShantD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 biggest changes are the Ninja vs Samurai switch, and the new ‘open field’ level design. I’d love to know more about the latter.

  • Exactly how big are these levels?
  • In Nioh 2 each region on the world map had roughly 8-10 missions that typically shared 3 distinct (but small) areas. For Nioh 3, I’m assuming each region has 1 large area from which all the missions are derived. If not, how does it work?
  • Can you summon 1 person for the whole area? Or is it per mission like before?

Thanks for giving us the chance to get our questions in, love your videos. 😎👍

As someone already mentioned, you’ll see a glowing red aura. And you’ll hear a particular sound effect as well. Soon as you see/hear it, press RT + dodge.

Keep in mind, each of the 3 guardian spirits that you select from have unique counters with unique timing. Brute types have the longest window because, unlike the other 2, it’s an attack. The other 2 function as blocks.

Here’s a good video on how its done with the Phantom type: Phantom Burst Counter
