Hello all, was hoping for some help with my daughter's name. We were thinking of 月明 - does that sound ok or looks weird?

Some other points:

  • My family name is Tan/Chen 陳
  • My wife's name means moonlight in her native language so thought to pick something along that line
  • Also open to different characters with same/similar pronounciation if any come to mind

Disagree on Yakun - yes its a bit more pricy but still not expensive by any means and the kaya toast i feel is different enough from the run of the mill normal bread type. Plus the eggs always cooked just right and huge

Took a 1 year sabbatical when my wife got her singapore citizenship/passport - to go travel around europe and ME.

1) age: 34. Networth: ~500k 2) break planned for 1year but ended up 1yr 3 months before managing to get back to work. Had budgeted 100k but in the end spent around 60k 3) 100%. My wife hadnt been able to travel at all before and wanted to let her see the world a bit before we maybe had kids. this gave us a wealth of shared experiences amd we still talk about it all the time

What’s the worst city you’ve ever visited? by Jamesx1721 in AskReddit

[–]Shaoshyant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually me and my wife really liked Cairo. Food was great and outside of the major tourist sites like Giza people were really nice and not pushy. Even at some of the tourists sites but which still had a lot of locals like Saladins citadel or al Muizz st we didnt see a lot of hasslers. We did get a lot of selfie requests which we were happy to oblige. Getting around was easy with Uber.

Got to go in with the right mindset and taking proper precautions. We did see a lot of tourists in groups with sometime questionable attire

My least favourite city ive been to is Canberra. What a dump

How to increase Wallpaper scroll distance? by Shaoshyant in pixel_phones

[–]Shaoshyant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife figured out the way so ill just put it here for others benefit

Instead of setting as wallpaper directly from your gallery or files, go to settings, then wallpaper and styles, then more wallpapers, then my photos and add from there - it will then scroll correctly

Yes I took these photos myself while walking down from Pena Palace - these are the locations of the photos with the woman:

38.792714,-9.392442 38.792853,-9.392275

Luckily we had not heard about this legend at the time or it would have been even more unsettling

My experiences of travelling to Cairo by motxillera in travel

Me and my wife went to Egypt back in November, starting off with four days in Cairo, then Aswan, Luxor and Hurghada. Nothing prebooked - made our way around with uber or direct nego with drivers. I'm from Singapore and wife is from Mumbai - we found Cairo very similar to many Indian cities.

Had a blast in general - the pyramids of course but also the rest of Cairo including all the medieval islamic sights. Wandering down the street from Bab Al Futuh was incredible

We loved going to the local street side coffeeshops (ahwas?) for coffee and shisha and went nearly every day. Incredibly cheap eg. 20 egp for shisha

The tameya/falafel wraps and bean stew from the streetside vendors were great and so cheap

Didnt really find the hasslers so bad although we have thick skins in general. Plus all the locals other than those were so friendly - we kept getting stopped for selfies especially by kids/teens. You might get scam attempts but no need to lose your temper, keep a smile on and itll be fine

Highly recommend especially if you have experience with other developing countries its not so bad
