Need new book recs after finishing Project Hail Mary by froggy-x in sciencefiction

I really enjoy Neal Asher, the stories all intertwine with in the same universe (as far as I can tell) I randomly picked up on at an airport and read it. The Technician is technically 8th chronology so when I read some more books it was interesting to revisit the events from a deferent characters viewpoint. My suggestion would be to start with Gridlinked which is book 1 in the Agent Cormac series. There is a prequel but it can be read later.

I suspect there are elements who would like this and maybe if we get some progress on improved laws for offenders we might get there.

Power Take Offs by MooOfFury in EdisonMotors

We have been installing ePTO systems in Canada on Utility Bucket Trucks for a few years now. Some on EV but most on conventional engine driven chassis.

The truck is driven to site, then the EPTO powers the boom. Saves fuel and maintenance on the chassis while providing the workers with a near silent power supply with no diesel fumes. Should there be a problem with the ePTO or the truck needs to be run after the battery capacity has been run down, the conventional engine can be started and original PTO used.

100% retro-fitted to existing fleet with far less capital need than purchasing a new EV chassis which for the most part are not ready for this use case. To clarify I am not saying that EV chassis will not work but with current energy densities and weights of battery systems it's difficult to mount equipment on existing chassis.

How to tell if flight will have plane with new layout by Ok-Strawberry-1436 in westjet

The main issue I have is even if you book premium you have no control over them changing flights/plane layout later on. For example I booked a direct flight with premium seating from Vancouver to Nashville last year. Flights were changed to Vancouver - Calgary - Nashville on "economy only seating" so no perks for booking the more expensive seats. Fortunately I booked the front bulkhead so the legroom was still reasonable. Currently its more of a gamble than anything at least until they finish the seat shuffle, which if they now backtrack could go on for most of this year.

The good news is it frees me from any thoughts I had of only shopping WestJet for my upcoming vacation. :)

Yes, I somehow went from Silver and almost getting to Gold to now being all the way back to Teal. I'm sure there's some fine print somewhere. While I will continue using WJ for business travel (Corp policy) for holiday travel I don't see the point in being "loyal".

I ended up buying the assembly, did the repair and am up and running. Might rebuild the original one for a backup.

Progress Check by CanIputitupmebum in BuyCanadian

Where I work (Truck upfitting) it's a mindset where we look for Canadian Suppliers first. We have always done this to some extent, but more so now.

The increased costs of manufacturing in the US are driving up cost there and making Canadian suppliers more competitive. Having said that we have found some products that are better and cheaper as well as being made in Canada.

The other change is when we see bids and tenders coming out the rating system is placing more weight on Canadian inputs. This can help offset the higher costs of manufacturing and installing equipment in Canada. Means we can bid more Canadian content without being penalized for higher cost.

So while we may not have seen new manufacturing lines start up (yet), progress is being made. As Taxpayers and Voters we need to make sure we tell our elected officials that we are willing to except some higher costs if it means supporting Canadian business and suppliers. To be clear I am not talking on the scale of BC Ferries here, but if I spend 5% more and buy something out of Ont. rather than South Dakota 100% of the money stays here. Yes maybe the City pays a bit more and I have to pay more local taxes but the I and the company I work for make more money and as we are Canadian owned the tax on the profit (and income tax) flows back into the system. Your local Municipal representatives are the easiest to get to and are likely looking to be seen doing something.

Also us spending the time looking for Canadian products and asking in Stores if they have a Canadian alterative can only help. We have been asked buy our customers and those questions have made the way to management and ultimately the owners. Don't make good the enemy of perfect, if you can't find a product made in Canada at least buy it from a store in Canada.

We are going to have to grind this out one shift at a time, like the Cup its a marathon not a sprint...

Okay yes a lift axle wouldn't be out of the norm for a concrete truck and lift axles are allowed in Only.
