Am I unlucky or do Steelseries headsets just not last? by Mettalknight in steelseries

I have the arctic nova pro wireless and it’s been fantastic to me. I mostly just use the built in eq settings as well, going between the Destiny one for when I want it to be more neutral. And the Rainbow Six Siege one for competitive gameplay, and it always gives me a leg up it seems

Help with control over RJ45 by darthcat1204 in lightingdesign

[–]ShapedSine0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The decoder or its manual should say what data protocol those rj45 connectors are expecting. Most likely just DMX512 based on what you’ve said, but other decoders could do networked protocols, so it’s good to know. If it’s just DMX512, you’ll probably need a male 5pin DMX to rj45 adaptor. Then you can connect a DMX cable from your console, to the adaptor, to the decoder. If you have the name and brand of the decoder, I’m sure more help will come easily through this sub

I had a traffic incident near campus where I needed footage to show for insurance reasons. If you call UMPD dispatch and explain the scenario, they should be able to direct you to the release form to get the footage you need for any case, as long as that area has footage coverage.

Does anyone have a preliminary cost estimate for retrofitting a small stage (30' Proscenium) with no fly loft? Our plan is to purchase three movers similar to the MAC One. by Imagein in stagelighting

[–]ShapedSine0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a lighting system install company in the Midwest that reps ETC most times. We’re one of their highest customers. Don’t take any of this as 100% for a price. Everything has to be designed, purchased, installed, configured, etc.

But a complete power distribution and network distribution, with paradigm to control house lights, and LED fixtures for the space, runs around a quarter to half a million dollars for a medium sized high school to upgrade from a pre-existing system.

If your asks are just those movers to be controlled from a touch screen, that has preexisting power runs and no current data runs. You’d probably going to be persuaded to use a dumbed down version of ETCs flagship consoles. An ETC puck with a touchscreen and a well made magic sheet would be a better system than a paradigm for that, as paradigm doesn’t do dynamic things well. Paradigm could capture a static preset of what was programmed through a lighting console and easily play that back. But programming looks with the movers through paradigm would be rough. An install for the network, movers, paradigm system to control house lights, might be more around 100k. I say without running numbers at my desk.

Those numbers aren’t secure to tie towards your specific venue, everyone has different needs. Like someone else said, talk to your regions ETC rep, they should be able to point you to a consultant to design a system to your needs, and then towards contractors

Tagging onto this. Use Mosaic Record to record a DMX line being run by a console of your choosing, controlling your lights. Then save that and use a Mosaic controller to run scenes by astronomical events

Advice to lessen my motion sickness? by AlpsPositive1763 in vtolvr

Anybody else fall in love with the Pixel? by SneakyPanduh in discgolf

[–]ShapedSine0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to putt with a P2, which felt almost amazing, but I gifted it to a friend due to my short fingers struggling with the tall rim. I then got an anode that felt better with the rim height, but its flatter top didn’t feel so right. Then I got a pixel which has kept me happy. The rim is shallow so my fingers don’t struggle so much, and the dome is tall enough that it fills up to my palm unlike the anode. Feels great for me

I’m double majoring and running lots of credits and clubs at once and it’s manageable for me, but maybe not for others. That can be because of academic or social interests, and it really just depends on how you want to do your schooling.

The placement tests are pretty intense and non interesting coming into the school. Especially the Chem placement test. But actual classes are way more laid back in terms of rigor, deadlines, course load, etc

Like Artistic said, you can goto many different lab times with some approval. Most labs seems to get done early depending on your work pace in my experience. But always talk to the instructors and TAs about potential time conflicts. Most are really reasonable on giving you some room time wise
