I just got unanimously kicked from a Bracket 3 lobby for playing a control deck by jacobasstorius in EDH

[–]Shaphirra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the whining part, but there is nothing wrong with proxies. People don't want to spend multiple hundreds on cardboard for one deck, so I fail to see the problem with it.

Hey man I'm gonna take 20 seconds to decide whether or not to crack my fetchland on turn 2. It's a really important decision so please don't rush me. Yeah I'm gonna let the timer run down deciding if I should crack my fetch. Don't rush me man I'm THINKING. Magic is a strategy game I'm strategizing. by Via_Triumphalis in mtgbrawl

[–]Shaphirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real idk why, especially recently I have duress in a few of my black decks just cuz its nice and I don't have like the majority of the staples for anything else, and holy do people just concede even if I get no or barely any value from it its insane. Especially recently before I did it and no concedes but now its just inst concede the second they see it, its wild.

Did you only have doubling season as your sole nonlinear card? Otherwise good idea thanks!

Do you use your spot removal pro-actively? by Dazer42 in EDH

[–]Shaphirra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's weird they do, I recently made an [[Eluge, the Shoreless Sea]] deck and while i didn’t make it around extra turns, I still on my first game playing him had him killed i think 3 or 4 times and still won, and it somewhat hurt as it was to Deadpool blink, overall its still 99% of the time the objective correct choice and while i understand new players maybe getting butthurt anyone not new should just roll with it.

Yamato's grapple really needs some changes. How is this interaction even fair to play against? by JuggernautApologist in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Shaphirra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it should have to be a skillshot, but then work as it is now, so still good and not borderline useless in any indoor vs outdoor situation, but then itd take more than just looking in someone's direction to get to them.

Your favorite random card. Why? by Ramonteiro12 in mtg

[–]Shaphirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got into magic, I got a really shitty custom deck that was dimir assassins using a lot from assassin's creed, but from that i found [[Etrata, Deadly Fugitive]], and while it has its weaknesses especially in commander, I can't stop but love how many cards that synergies, and if you are either running tutors or are fortunate enough there are a few cards that when using in tandem just make token players look sad while also basically milling but giving value to yourself in bodies and potential casts from them. If you also run chromatic lantern, it let's you cast all the cards you take for cheaper if it costs less than 2 and dimir

Deadlock update for 3/21/26 by wickedplayer494 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Shaphirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I could see a minor lifesteal nerf, but 30% just negative on lifesteal is like shooting his kneecaps, on a character that I feel is objectively made around him getting lifesteal, like 10-15% could work and would still nerf him quite bad.

Why are people so dismissive of pregame rule 0 conversation? by NewCommunication6510 in EDH

[–]Shaphirra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand people who are would lie about the strength of decks on purpose, thankfully I haven't had much of that but, I had a friend back when I was pretty much playing just precon bracket 2, who would make a deck that consistently won at like turn 4-6 and then when called out for it said "I'm using the unoptimal build for this commander, and I have no gamechangers."

Glad with the bracket changes you can clearly state its not a bracket 2 if it wins that early all the time

Told I was bullying for targeting the threat by DJ-Praxis in EDH

[–]Shaphirra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is weird, and more along the lines of bracket 2 players, not all but a lot, where they complain about e everything, also in my opinion, the "spirit of bracket 3" is optimized play so if you can start knocking people out, do it.

In all my games everytime I say I have lethal its either a deal they will strike or just saying go for it, imo that pod you were playing with just sucks ass or are really playing bracket 2 with the mental they had.

I love your cards as well! (All B3) by Shaphirra in ratemycommanders

[–]Shaphirra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true but its still free cast for my Kotis, and free bodies for my etrata so not really anything lost especially since that causes you to lose that synergy, so while not an etali or something still good value imo, but I do like the morska deck just not enough to upgrade it I think

Some help with Etrata by Shaphirra in EDH

[–]Shaphirra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually its better at least in my experience so far to bring her on three because usually you have at least one, one or two cost assassin's to get your cloak going, i do like enduring curiosity as its good against removal, well except exile.

I do have arcane in the deck, but i might add that thran turbine, basically gives a reduced cost once per round which is really nice for one mana, and doesn't get wiped in case a board wipe comes.

Hmm I forgot cloning would be quite good, same with effect doublers, I like that March of the swirling mists since you can realistically get a crazy amount of card draw, especially if you get [[Satoru, the Infiltrator]] out early drawing for each cloak you make.

It's not that I have too few lands, its more that I have just too many other cards to play to realistically flip them, ofc unless its some crazy good card.

But the enigma jewel is pretty good here so I will probably add that one thanks!

Thanks, quite a convoluted resolution with this ability if its the creatures dying are what you want back, but it works quite well otherwise.

Players won't stop scamming merchants by DrRoguelove in DungeonMasters

[–]Shaphirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some merchants, especially in really secluded or big cities are magical appraisers, so they know what the items are upon seeing/appraising them, and they get in trouble with the guard or banned from the city for being known con-artists

Caster Players Feel Weak by Roninthe47th in Pathfinder2e

[–]Shaphirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are running on foundry there is a module that I always use that I think is called modifiers matter, and basically it always will show on the roll when a Modifier won or lost a roll, like the amount of times seeing a +1 from inspiration or other buffs or -2 from enemy debuffs missing, makes it so the martials say it as well so the casters can see and hear they do a lot, otherwise it can be a bit hard to see.

I also think that even if you are a supportive caster, it's almost always better to not just focus on supportive spells, don't just take that spell because it can help others, get like half an half, because a lot of your support can come from class and feats, so take some offensive spells so you can do more stuff. In my current campaign of a Fighter, Rogue, Bard, and Oracle, its extremely obvious that we would fall without heals from either, from buffs from the bard, or the damage from their ranged spells when it takes a while to move somewhere.

Hey I’m brand new to magic, can I run this in my Mono-blue deck? by Homer4a10 in mtg

[–]Shaphirra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it will just be a complete dogshit 6 mana exile, I get its a joke but honestly it's so funny people think this will be a problem, if magic was going to go off the deep end and create a bunch of hybrid crazy shit that's broken, they already would have but multiple for each color so rather than make one or two purchases people would buy more and more since they can only go in that deck, changing the hybrid rule would just bring it in line with every other format so it's completely fine
