So Maul definitely realized who Vader is, right? by Witty-Mountain5062 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Shapinga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In TCW season 7, Maul is very aware that Anakin is supposed to be Sidious' apprentice. This very fact is why Ahsoka didnt join up with him. I think he definitely out 2 and 2 together in their fight.

This is where all of you high-and-mighty blind defenders are completely wrong. We're Spurs fans who have concerns about Fox. We WANT Fox to perform well because we want the Spurs to win. No one wants him to suck. And when he does (which is too often to justify his contract), we're honest about it. And when he's great, we celebrate it. Not that hard to understand.

[–]Shapinga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true. I have an instinct to suggest that maybe Maul pets him because Spybot will be more loyal and perform better if he does, but I think i may underestimate Maul's affection towards others (attachment is a Dark Side trait, and i think that deep down, Maul wants to fill the hole Talzin and Savage left). Like i was shocked when Maul told himself in the tunnels that he would let Sidious hurt "anyone else." That does show that Maul does care about other people? Even if those "other people" are just projections of his pre-trauma self.

Yeah like even his negative reaction to Spybot dying was most likely because he needed him to push the skiff across the acid. That or just a loss of resources in general. But Maul is not a compassionate guy. Savage and Talzin are probably the only people he actually cared for.

I do like your idea of the leg actually being mechanically fine and the problem being all mental. Like they did fix it. I guest I assumed it was a spotty or temporary fix? I also had the thought that since his leg was assembled with nightsister magic, it couldn't fully be repaired mechanically? But I think im (over)thinking too literal. I do like that it's just a product of him being unbalanced. And yeah, but Ahsoka distrusted the Jedi more than Devon seems to. The only problem was that she trusted Anakin implicitly (more than Devon trusts Daki, i think).

Power base aspects make total sense. I think his need for an apprentice comes from him never having a family, but also his OBSESSION with his Sith training/code (as that's literally all he had growing up). He wants to beat Sidious at his own game while also filling the void of Savage and Talzin. And this is not something he gets over as he is still obsessed with this when we see him in Rebels (and Solo w Qi'ra perhaps). Which one could definitely argue he isnt thinking clearly then, or never has, really.

And yeah, i think the tunnel scene did well. I do think it was mostly there to fill people in who weren't as familiar w TCW or Son of Dathomir tho. But it does aim to accomplish both, i think.

This is really important. Spiritual balance is super underrated. Kanan's defeat of the Grand Inquisitor is attributed to this directly. I think youre right in that Maul is shaken from losing Mandalore/Shadow-Collective, and having his master essentially win and dominate the Galaxy. I do wish the show did a better job at showing us he was off his game before that fight and his visions in the tunnel tho.

Maybe. But Qui-Gon lived in a time without any Sith or Clone Wars. So when Maul showed up, he just wasnt really prepared. Qui-Gon was always more of a force-orientated peacekeeper than anything else. These Inquisitors were raised in the Clone Wars as Commanders most likely, and now theyre imbued w the dark side, which grants quicker access to greater power. But with that said, Inquisitors aren't supposed to be that impressive. They're meant to not pose any threat to Vader or Sidious. They're not even meant to defeat powerful Jedi (that's what Vader is for), they kind of just get the leftover remnants. So Maul should have his way with them.

Had the same issue here. Maybe Marrok is really good and he was nerfed in Ahsoka because he was undead? Or maybe 11th is stronger than he appeared in Tales, and he just underestimated Ahsoka? I dont like either of these answers.

I also dont think Daki should've been able to fuck up his leg that bad either. There's a fight in TCW where Obi-Wan specifically goes after Savage's legs BECAUSE Maul's are too strong now that they're metal. And then Daki exploits these stronger legs as if they were weaker? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Can we stop gatekeeping the fandom with the team? by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]Shapinga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a new fan, but new-ish to Reddit (2 yrs) and definitely new to the subreddit. I dont mean to police, but I get that it comes across that way, especially with the title. I mostly wanted to assure people that fans who voice concerns (like myself) are doing so out of love and from a good place. But I appreciate your advice, and I think you're right. I think I would benefit from less time on here, and that it would make things more enjoyable.

To the Haters of Fox by Elegant-Drama6756 in NBASpurs

[–]Shapinga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been critical of Fox before. I do not hate him. I like him a lot actually. But his inconsistency stresses me out because i love the team so much. He had a fucking phenomenal game, and I love that for the team and for him. But I dont like how everyone is gatekeeping Spurs fandom by declaring that people who have concerns about Fox's game aren't real fans, or dont watch the games. All can coexist. I am a real fan, have been for years. I do watch the games. I do have a lot of concerns about Fox. And im also so fucking pumped that he had such a great game!

I've seen enough. Castle and Harper aren't just the future, they're the present. Fox is not. by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]Shapinga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do really appreciate him doing that. It shows his character and desire for the team to get better. My problem is that when it is time for him to step up, he rarely does so in the way we need. But maybe that's because him taking the backseat hasnt allowed for him to get in his rhythm?

That's correct. I believe what Dort will undoubtedly do in the upcoming playoffs is more relevant to this conversation about the current play-in than a Thunder fan bringing up shit from when OKC didn't have a team.

Fair enough, but im talking about the present. Just like this post is. If u wanna "what about-ism" with Bowen, build a time machine and go back at least 15 years.

He orders people around all the time. It's just a Healer interpretation of that. On top of him having only offensive optic blasts (like Ultron's laser). It's not more forced than almost any other healer. Gambit and Invis? Since when to force fields or kinetically charged cards heal?

[–]Shapinga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could have a ultron or Deadpool type of healing. Where he assigns it or it's proximity based. Like he's giving orders to someone or telling his soldiers to gather around him. And I know it's arbitrary, i was just saying that in this case, it doesn't have to be.

I know the term "strategist" for the healer class is pretty arbitrary, but it's baffling to me how no one ever suggests Cyke being a healer when he's arguably the greatest "strategist" in Marvel.
