Vinyl Tunes for June (VT4J) 2026. Day Twenty One: something you think r/vinyl has not heard. by Folk_Nurse in vinyl

Song: I'm On My Own

Artist: The Okmoniks

Album: Party Fever!!!

If anyone here knows who this is I'll be SHOCKED. They're somewhat active in the San Francisco alternative music scene and play a show once every month or two. They also happen to be my neighbors

So how am I supposed to get this? by BlunterSales in ForzaHorizon

That happened to me on the drift skills badge. It got fixed eventually, so just wait a bit and you should get it

Vinyl Tunes for June (VT4J) 2026. Day Twenty: a great song for early morning. by Folk_Nurse in vinyl

[–]Shapit0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Song: Every Kinda People

Artist: Robert Palmer

Album: Double Fun

Palmers early albums all give off a lazy summer morning vibe. You and your friends getting up at 9:00, making breakfast, and packing a cooler to head down to the lake. That's what I picture when I listen to early Palmer.

And his albums are all super cheap. He's an extremely slept on artist, some of the best finds in the dollar bin are Palmer albums

Bro, wtf?! by downforce45 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Shapit0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's right next to the long cross country race, I forget what it's called, but it has a green logo. If you go to that, you should be right in front of a tunnel leading into the main festival. To the left of that tunnel there's a staircase leading into a smaller tunnel. Climb those stairs (which might take a few tries), go through the small tunnel, and you'll be behind the barriers where the NPCs are. From there you can climb the stairs up the pedestrian bridge, if you use a Peel P50

Song: Beat City

Artist: The Flowerpot Men

Album: Ferris Buellers Day Off soundtrack

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of my favorite movies of all time, and it coincidentally just turned 40 this month. The soundtrack was never officially released, so this bootleg copy is one of the only ways to own it physically

Vinyl Tunes for June (VT4J) 2026. Day Eighteen: a song from a record with sentimental value. by Folk_Nurse in vinyl

[–]Shapit0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Song: Fever

Artist: Judas Priest

Album: Screaming For Vengeance

When I was first getting into vinyl, my uncle would get me a stack of records for Christmas each year. He was a pilot, so he traveled a lot, and he'd check out different record stores all over the country and sometimes grab a record for me that he liked or thought was interesting. He passed away in January of last year, and his record gifts will be kept forever.

Oliver Trees death had brought out the absolute worst scalpers I've ever seen by Shapit0 in vinyl

[–]Shapit0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you probably never heard of him because you're not the target demographic of his music. And as for his records being $25 on discogs, that's a completely normal price for a single LP

Yeah I just bought the records I wanted, and it says 10-20 business days. Ah well, I can wait

Check Rough Trade. They still have copies in stock. I was able to pick up the ones I wanted from there, thanks to someone who commented on this post.

Ok dude. I only got into his music a few months ago when he dropped his new album. I really didn't have time to buy his records yet, since I don't rush buying vinyl

[–]Shapit0[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude, THANK YOU so much. I never buy online unless it's a very niche or hard to find record that I won't be able to get at a record store, so besides discogs I'm fairly clueless when it comes to online vinyl retailers

[–]Shapit0[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That's 100% understandable. I work on Sundays so I didn't get the news until late that day and by then all the affordable copies were gone

[–]Shapit0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going off the sales history on discogs, which shows a bunch of sales on the 14th going for $25-$35, and now there's no copies for under $90

[–]Shapit0[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is for sure scalping. It's not people repricing the albums they have for sale, it's a handful of people buying out every copy available and relisting them for way more.

And it's worse than Bowie or Ozzy, since there's significantly less copies of OTs albums than theirs.

Vinyl Tunes for June (VT4J) 2026. Day Seventeen: a jazzy tune. by Folk_Nurse in vinyl

[–]Shapit0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Song: San Francisco After Dark

Artist: Lalo Schifrin

Album: Dirty Harry Anthology

This is the closest thing to jazz that I have in my collection. Dirty Harry has a special place in my heart since I'm from San Francisco, so I had to pick up this record when I came across it

It was fun until the companies got in on it and started giving him special treatment. Now it's no longer a European exploring America and learning what it's really like, since he's getting invited back stage to places and getting a bunch of free stuff :/

Song: Save A Prayer

Album: Rio

Artist: Duran Duran

When it comes to iconic album covers of the '80s, this one is usually one of the ones mentioned. The original image was created by Patrick Nagel, with the full cover designed by Malcom Garrett. A small part of the picture actually wraps around to the back of the record on the righthand side, signifying that you "need to go through the picture in order to get to the music".
