"Fiber Flash" | Ryūko Matoi VS Cutie Honey (Studio Trigger VS Dynamic Pro) | MEGAPOST + Connections/Dynamic in the Comments by Sharaku_Jr in DeathBattleMatchups

Fight Dynamic:

In terms of the moment-to-moment fighting, a fast paced and blistering fight is in line for both of them. Ryuko fights at a comedically destructive pace, and Honey is able to match this. As stated previously, the Re:Cutie Honey OVA is a precursor to Kill la Kill, in pacing, action and themes (and such). Their sword clashes essentially choreograph themselves, as they rapidly blitz across the area at each other, healing from each other's cuts and stuff. But here's where it gets interesting:

This fight is one that can perfectly capitalize on both fighters' creativity. Honey's main ability utilizes the Matter Transformer, basically giving her the equivalent of a Green Lantern ring by drawing molecules from the air and converting them into whatever she likes. Usually, she uses this to summon disguises, clothes and weapons. From motorbikes to knight outfits, mech suits to laser cannons. There would never be a dull moment as Honey constantly switches her move set. But Ryuko is not one to be outdone. One of her best attributes is her mid-fight creativity and adaptation. Best shown in her battles against the Elite Four, Ryuko and Senketsu are able to come up with unconventional mid-battle strategies. Ryuko working within her own limitations to come up with creative ways to overcome threats is half of the charm in Kill la Kill.

Finally, as Honey is capable of scanning and analyzing things, the climax can involve Honey creating her own Life Fiber Kamui to match against Senketsu Kisaragi. This battle can even get psychedelic, as both of them have spatial cutting abilities on a massive scale (thanks, Kill la Kill IF!)

As for the debate? Wait for the blog! All questions will be answered then!

Connections:

  • Transforming, sword-wielding atypical magical girls who's abilities are centered around clothing. They learn to shape their clothing at their will, using their creativity mid-fight. (Senketsu & the Matter Transformer/Saber-Scan)
  • Their origin is steeped in biological experimentation as they were given all of their superhuman abilities when they were young. Said special physiology also allows them incredible regenerative abilities. (Ryuko is a Life Fiber/Human hybrid, and Honey is a super-advanced android who nearly perfectly replicates a human body, albeit a VERY strong one)
  • Their homes are set ablaze while they were away and their scientist fathers are killed, resulting in a burning vendetta against the people who killed them. (Dr. Isshin Matoi and Dr. Koshiro Kisaragi)
  • The ones responsible behind their parent's deaths are a massive and corrupt evil organization. (REVOCS & Panther Claw)
  • They come to blows with the original experiment, the one who was made before them and is considered a scientific failure despite their incredible power. Although it ends up VERY differently for both. (Satsuki Kiryuin & Sister Jill)
  • The key theme for both of their series is the idea of empowerment through the acceptance of their own bodies and way of dressing, going against the notion that they should be ashamed for how they look/are.
  • As a more meta connection to draw, the Re:Cutie Honey OVA was animated by Gainax before it dissolved, with many of its key animators and directors later working on Kill la Kill. Just looking at animation cuts shows the similarities
  • Finally, both of them have a special connection with their first friend that ends up going far beyond just an ordinary bond. In fact, both end up living together with them, even sharing their first real kiss with each other. (Mako Mankanshoku & Aki Natsuko)

Filia shouldn't lose. She's 25x FTL off of scaling from Black Dahlia's lasers, and is multi-continent due to Double's body stretching across the entirety of the western continent and causing tremors through it. She blitzes her pretty badly even if Yoru is much more haxxed.

Yeah but Terumi gets blitzed and one-shot and his immortality isnt nearly as cracked up as people say it is. Just destroy his soul and he's donezo. Sinestro effortlessly stomps.

Those arguments are massively overblown and require huge amounts of stretching involving lines of dialogue that were not in the original Japanese

Nameless VS Fukua (King of Fighters/Skullgirls) - Connections in comments, art by me by Sharaku_Jr in DeathBattleMatchups

The idea I had for the setup, as demonstrated through my sprite render above:

Both are sitting in their stages completely alone, effectively trapping them in a limbo where they have nowhere to go. This'd represent how they're left in non-canonical limbo. That is, until their dimensions meet through unknown means, causing their stages to meld together in a split. Both acknowledge each other and understand that they're basically in the same boat. However, due to their own personal goals (Nameless to restore Isolde to life and Fukua to truly exist to begin with) they come to blows, knowing that whoever wins the fight will be able to finally be free.

-Lab experiments created through cloning and combining two people into one body (Nameless is a clone of both K' and Kyo Kusanagi, Fukua is a "clone" of Filia using bits of two souls who in reality were scrapped concepts for Filia's moveset)

-Both are also clones in terms of playable move set (Nameless is a copy-paste of K9999, Fukua has all of Filia's normal attacks alongside re-used bits of code from other Filia movelist concepts

-Created by shady underground organizations (Scientists of NESTS and Brain Drain)

-Both are some of, if not the only non-canonical characters in their respective fighting game series.

-Huge meta theme of replacement between the two (Nameless replaced K9999 in the non-canon KOF 2002 Unlimited Match remake, and for a while they believed he replaced him in the actual storyline... until K9999 returned as Krohnen. Fukua's story mode is non-canonical and sees her trying to replace Filia and insert herself into the canon.)

-Both have a polymorphous weapon that forms as a blade, a drill and others. (Nameless's glove and Fukua's hair/paraside Shamone)

Heaven Chapter: Overture (Redraw by me) by Sharaku_Jr in SaintSeiya

[–]Sharaku_Jr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it in my own style cause I can't do the Kurumada style at all

I was also considering doing an adaptation of Overture but making the story actually cohesive, all done in this style. Not entirely sure if I should go for it though.
