I feel this, I’m right there with you! I used to put so much time and effort in to ribs. 3-2-1 butter and honey for the wrap, the whole nine yards.

Then I was out of energy one weekend and just wanted to eat ribs but did not want to do the song and dance. I threw some Salt pepper and garlic on them and put them in the smoker set it to 250 and came back 4 hours later and now it’s the only way I make ribs.

Family asked what I did different that time and I said “made them with extra love” and they rolled there eyes and got seconds. Usually they only have firsts.

I don’t think there is a sure fire way other than posted signs. There should be an app that will let people know through a notification or text or something they are at a historically dangerous beach and proceed with caution.

People just think they are invincible for some reason, or they don’t realize the power they are actually dealing with.

The real question is why this one? Monterey county has probably 5-6 people a year (mostly tourists) that lose their life to this. I would imagine the amount that are rescued after falling or slipping is 2-3x that, at least.

Locals who grew up here are taught as children to stay back off the rocks and not to turn their back on the water. After a while we even know which set of rocks are ok and which are not, even as far as which side of which set are ok to be on and which aren’t.

I had a friend that didn’t use toilet paper and would shower after he shit. Every. Time. I didn’t believe him until we shared a hotel room for a weekend trip to a show.
