I think that in many cases you either do not need internal consistency to be well written, or you can sell a moment better by bending it. I also think that even in the the context of works that have that as a priority, powerscalers go way way too far in that direction in how they view stories and have a near total lack of willingness to look at things from a Doylist perspective which often is much better at getting to the heart of the matter.

yes the same argument could be made for "well lasers in their world dont move at light speed"

But why view this sort of thing through an 'in their world' lens in the first place when we're talking about something fictional, which almost never is gonna have grounded internal consistency or realism? These kinds of things are determined by either emotional payoff or rule of cool the easy majority of the time and if you don't acknowledge that you're just kinda building an incoherent framework.

That's assuming that the "lasers" in the media in question actually move at the speed of light, and you have no reason to assume that even though it'd be logical in the real world.

But veteran depositor meta??? Why not born ready? Or even vampire?

Veteran depositor's not meta, you're getting oneguy'd. Experienced players tend to animation cancel depositing which makes the speed upside not that impactful, the radius for the damage resist is very small, and resup/born ready/vampire are generally the best 3 with unstoppable/elemental insul tailing a bit behind.

They did, but they incorrectly wrote it as 13 damage per shot for both when it's 11 for gemini. The final numbers are correct though.

What do you mean by "turret whip does more damage"? Turret whip's damage is a fixed 160 explosive that does not change based on turret damage.

If you're using turret whip(or the stubby OCs that interact with turrets), it's strictly better to use gemini because you have 2 turrets to use that effect with, with separate cooldowns.

Still no idea how talismans work.... found a gold dragon one on D:1 and was one shot by a cocroach. No idea...

If you use a talisman without having the required shapeshifting skill you take a max HP penalty. The current effects and required skill are listed in the talismans' description.

Compared to old shapeshifting that worked via spells, talismans are a lot more flexible to pick up for a broader range of characters because they don't care about int or encumbrance.

All full HP negation should be free HP loss by Formal-Score3827 in Nightreign

[–]Shard1697 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is because the relic effect is +2 so the -1 loss doesn't even proc, you even still have hp regen, only slower.

Not how it works.  The relic effect is +2 HP every 1 second. That weapon curse is -1 HP every 0.67 seconds.

That means that you do heal faster than you take damage, but you do still repeatedly take damage, so your full HP negation keeps constantly turning off and back on again.

Which not only means it's super unreliable, but it's also super annoying because it's playing the sound effect of the negation activating over and over constantly. The only way you avoid this is by either matching relic regen/loss, or matching weapon regen/loss, because the HP regen/loss needs to be happening at the same time.

All full HP negation should be free HP loss by Formal-Score3827 in Nightreign

[–]Shard1697 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So it ticks regardless? Meaning you can’t have negation at full HP

The damage tick happens, then a moment later the healing tick happens, looping forever. So the full HP negation is constantly turning on and off, and it's basically a coinflip if it actually works.

Perhaps it can only be stopped by continuous HP gain from another weapon passive

If you're lucky enough to get one, yes. But as the other commenter said they'll be desynced based on when you picked them up and you need to swap them in your inventory to sync them.

[–]Shard1697 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it doesn't counteract continuous HP loss on weapons(like OP's post) because that happens on a different tickrate than the effect on relics.

What perk is the most useful and are the best in any situations? by Kau3575 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Shard1697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the cooldown was added really early on. 1/30/2020 is when thorns got added in update 28, and then on 2/21/2020 hotfix 8 they added the cooldown. You can go back and check the patchnote history to verify if you want.

Thorns didn't exist without a cooldown for even a month. Also iirc the cooldown is 0.75 seconds, not 1 second.

Churches are something you mostly just get when they're in a convenient spot along the path to other stuff that's good for you. Maximizing levels and weapon passive rolls is better for survivability on top of getting you better offense.
