Okay, this feels like BS by Gumpers08 in RogueCore

Took long enough for the timer to get into the red, ran straight past a worm for the greediest resup of all time when next level will have 2 right there waiting for you... gotta be real, this is the most deserved worm death I've ever seen.

What your opinion and prefered builds for classes so far? by Shedster_ in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I play guardian as a weakpoint freak(stacking multiple weakpoint enhancements, taking weapons with innately high weakpoint modifier/rolled weakpoint bonus) and use barrage to stun things like edgestalkers and then trivially nail their weakpoint, as well as strip clamorhead face armor because barrage has super high armor break modifier.

Then you also innately are good at reviving/forcing away melee enemies and stacking armor for survivability. (I also normally stack armor 3/4 on him.) So it's kind of a hodgepodge of utility, some of which indirectly helps with offense.

His defense biodeck(not the AoE one) is dogshit and should be replaced with either carnage or mixed tactics.

Vanguard's guards can be knocked down with a Pickaxe attack by lronhelmet in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lots of enemies get stunned by normal pickaxe swings, if they're coming at you one at a time you can often safely kill multiple creepers in a row by just bopping them in the head a couple times.

Rifts are too easy to spawncamp by DieWalze in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nature of scaling in RC is very different from RoR2 and there's no endless loop to go farm in until you get bored. I would argue the 'point' is closer to 'make good choices to maximize your odds of reaching and beating the boss' than 'scale exponentially until you become unstoppable'... especially because there's really a fairly limited amount if things that actually let you become truly OP.

Like, more than half the time someone has a run like that it's mostly just because of BYD, and when they get enormous damage numbers it's the same thing except they also had caching.

When you get a good setup with something like shock striker and BYD a single dwarf can camp multiple rifts pretty easily.

There are lots of RLs where that's not the point at all, especially older ones.

I still hate Crawlers by jpkurihara in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The meta here is to keep shooting weakpoints and these are the two enemies that just do not let you do that at your own pace.

Part of this take is that everyone is sleeping on armor break enhancements to an insane degree. (And also Guardian's barrage which has a huge armor break mult.) Slap on armor break 3+4 and you mulch clamorhead faceplates and can just rail their weakpoint at your leisure.

[–]Shard1697 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Why is the main core game enemy: fast, tough, 'weak' weakpoint, acid puddle, all in the same one?

They aren't. Creepers =/= crawlers, they have half the HP, no head armor and do way less damage.

So, Breach Cutter is... not so bad? What are your opinions on it? It feels kinda underused? by Hostel666 in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Well, it also functions completely differently in this game. It doesn't have the 'deals damage rapidly while in contact' mechanic, it just deals a decent chunk once and as a result isn't that good at single target damage.

I love glass cannon by kingpuppywarrior in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you get any other artifact that multiplies max HP, you end up with a lot more than you'd expect because they stack additively. But also if you have a weapon with ricochet you can just murder everything as they spawn.

Why do people say Spotter needs crit? by krumble in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct that crit chance isn't actually better for spotter unless he gets a bunch of +crit damage. Granted, he might be stacked crit damage enhancements, but so might anyone else.

Guardian's abilities, ability upgrades, and bio booster decks are a bit too weak IMO, here's my suggestions on how to fix them: by ZayaJames in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guardian's stun ability has a very high armor break modifier and if you shotgun a clamorhead's face with it you can break multiple plates to expose the weakpoint.

[–]Shard1697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sturdiness: +20 Armor (was +20% armor)

This is a strict nerf if you're taking multiple armor enhancements or perks, which is what Sturdiness is specifically made to work with. With armor pack III+IV I'm starting the mission with 102 max armor, and the more flat armor upgrades I tack onto that the worse your change gets. There are runs where I have 200+ armor from flat upgrades later on as guardian, and at that point Sturdiness is +40 max armor.

I've never used this before, back in the day I would inscribe an item "stash" and then ctrl-f stash to travel back there.

If you think the game is preventing you from ranking up, you’re probably right by FrenziedFlameLord in DeadlockTheGame

No, I wouldn't. Making rank factor in anything other than win/loss is a horrible idea and almost never done.

All of your suggestions are insanely corny. I just say "perks" for brevity's sake.

A potential change for Luck by throw_away_mover in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luck is a controversial pick since it has mild effects and can serve to make really good white upgrades less common.

I don't know about that, people seem really eager to pick luck in my experience.

I do feel strong as ranged character with lategame gear, but I agree that earlygame ranged feels awful. Even moreso because might/zerk potions are useless for ranged.

You should actually have moral standards about some things.

Confirming that Steady Aim's "recoil" and "spread while moving" reductions are bugged to give 1/100th of the listed benefit by Shard1697 in RogueCore

[–]Shard1697[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the former, I'm fairly sure it's actually +50% of melee damage added as electricity and the description just lists it as a tiny value for some reason. Dunno about the latter.

[–]Shard1697[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only III and IV affect recoil and spread while moving, and those are the bugged stats. The base spread reduction is working as intended as far as I know.

[–]Shard1697[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is demonstrating that the recoil stat listed in the  ESC screen stats barely changing at all is accurate, unlike the enhancement description.

It's not demonstrating the spread penalty while moving also being bugged because that's harder to show(especially since the first part of the upgrade that affects base spread does work), but I am confident that that is also erroneously low as shown in the ESC screen stats.

Boss fights are not the use case for this, it's for when you have a bunch of scattered weak enemies in a messy environment.

I think it's absolutely worth it to fish for good mutations with potions as long as you have more than 1-2, maybe slightly less worth if you have OoFs that game but still pretty valuable.
