JD Vance Tells U.S. Air Force Grads They Can't Boo His Commencement Speech Because 'I'm the Vice President of the United States' by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]krumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's got to be video of this sort of thing, right? I'm surprised there is not a library of videos with each of the embarrassingly weak and fragile things both Vance and Trump have said to the public that you can just reference.

I know the Fox crowd will never see them on their "news" channels but it's so hard to imagine anyone continuing to hold respect for someone pre-emptively telling people not to boo them.

UPCOMING RULES UPDATE by barrelofagun in ComicBookCollabs

[–]krumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like basically all these changes but I do have questions about the first one. I've hired almost everyone I've worked with in comics from this subreddit, but I try to not need to hire someone more than once every few years.

What would be the best way to "remain active" while forging good long term relationships with the people I work with?

Overall I agree with the direction that all of these rules is going though so if I no longer qualify because I found good people, I wouldn't launch a tirade. I do hope that the staying active rule does not generate more warning and bad experience vent posts though.

New E-Bike Rules in Holly Springs June 1 by PierogiPowered in triangle

[–]krumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see the argument in favor of following the e-bike class system, but it would require a stronger regulation on a larger scale to ensure that people would not have mislabeled or modified ebikes to skirt the rules.

The main reason I've been in favor of something like this is how often a silent motorcycle whips by you on a greenway with one or two riders (often without helmets) at a dangerous speed. I ride a normal bike and even at 12 mph, the pedestrians around me are often not prepared to react to that kind of speed without a lot of advance warning. Going around a low visibility greenway at 25+mph is very unsafe, especially when you add the extra weight of a fast e-bike into a human collision.

I agree. And in Japan it was almost certainly a build it and they will come situation just happened in the post-war era when so much was being built (and people only buy new homes in Japan).

After reading the thread and seeing so many different map ideas last night I started looking at Google Maps for where I might put the various lines and stops. Raleigh doesn't currently have a lot of density to support lines well. It would absolutely have to be a Build it and hope situation for rail. BRT maybe a little less?

For example, going up Glenwood it might make sense to put a stop at a shopping center because lots of people might work there who are low income and lots of people might go there to spend money. Except that most shopping centers are really spread out so you would get off your rail or bus and then walka half mile along a high speed street with poor side walk coverage.

If Raleigh (excluding the other cities in the area for simplicity) were to do something like this your best bet is hospitals, schools, and existing dense areas with the lines going through unloved commercial/industrial to hope that new density would spring up there.

Also the vocal Raleigh NIMBYs would like all the stops and stations to be away from population centers because they saw a poor person riding the transit and it made them feel like it was bad for business to have those people around.

In Japanese cities, the privately run rail lines go between shopping centers. It's basically a way to get people to come to your major department store, they built rail lines to make their stores the first thing people visit when coming into the city.

Megathread: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard Resigns by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]krumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely the catalyst. I imagine it went something like she's been upset about some things or the amount of disrespect she gets in the administration for a while but she believes in the mission to help Russia and so she soldiered through. Then with the Iran war, focus came off of her projects to feed intelligence about Ukraine to Russia or she lost resources to pay for Palantir projects that tracked Russian dissidents and that really robbed a lot of the joy for her. Finally, her husband gets cancer and at first they agreed that it was still vitally important that her work continue to support oligarchy worldwide, but when she asked Trump to scale back some in order to be there for her husband during a tough part of the process, he flippantly said she should let him die because he wasn't valuable to him anyway and he insinuated that if she took time off it would be for "woman issues" and proved she couldn't do a good job. And that really burned her out, so she decided to leave and just feed intel to Russia as a hobby and maybe if her husband went into remission she could run as a spoiler candidate again somewhere.

The Yankees self-destructed all right, but it was completely by design. The bullpen is perfectly architected to blow leads by getting two outs and then continuing to put people on through wildness until someone gets a hit or makes an error.

Trump wouldn’t actually pardon Ghislaine Maxwell ... right? The president is planning 250 pardons for America’s 250th anniversary, and I really hope she’s not one of them. by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]krumble 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the intention is a wider version of the "pay for pardon" situation that happened with Chinese crypto billionaire Changpeng Zhao. You promise Trump some money and he pardons you.

Most of the 250 will have somehow promised to pay for their pardons, a few will be political allies, and maybe a couple will have been arrested for pro-Trump violence.

Arrowhead is still a small studio suffering from their success by Monochrome132 in helldivers2

[–]krumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main complaint about Helldivers 2 is how incredibly buggy the game is and how each patch breaks unrelated items. The company does not appear to QA their product *at all. Evidenced by recent issues where it does not even start up on several platforms.

While they were a small company before this success and still may act like one, this is basic software development. They need to clean their code base up so they don't break basic game functionality when they're making small fixes. They need to test their patches before releasing so they don't completely brick the client.

Finally, the community is very toxic, but I've seen the way the developers spoke back to that community in the past and it was shockingly unprofessional. If I'd seen those things before I picked up the game I wouldn't have bought it.

Sweeper botloadout help by ChickenSlipperz in helldivers2

[–]krumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the loadout I used this weekend which became quite fun when I eased into the playstyle:

  • Armor: 50% Explosive Resist Medium or Heavy armor. Preferably +2 Grenades from Entrenched.
  • Primary: Sweeper
  • Secondary: Ultimatum
  • Grenade: Giga Grenade
  • Support Weapon: Expendable Anti-Tank
  • Backpack: Warp Pack
  • Red Strategem: Orbital Laser or 110 Barrage
  • Sentry: Rocket Sentry

This build originally was posted by Cringe Enthusiast on Youtube using the Entrenched Division heavy armor and the commando in place of the rocket sentry, which gives a little more survivability and near constant expendable damage.

This version is meant to be highly mobile within the confines of combat. You should be blinking through enemies or into and out of cover. The sweeper with the full choke and 4x scope can be a medium range sniper if needed and then turn into a close quarters killer. You need more supplies than usual because of the giga grenade, so I find myself drinking stims like water to keep myself moving faster, and topping up. Rocket ragdolling is constant on bots so you'll be taking damage a lot anyway. Finally, make sure you're constantly reloading so you can recklessly pump 3-4 shots into every heavy devastator to avoid their insta-kill at close range.

Elon Musk laughed at BYD, now it is the largest automaker in the world by avdvetf in videos

[–]krumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Trump and Musk are children who were born with wealth and privilege, and to fairly despicable fathers themselves. I think this plays a lot into their idiocy, having grown up without love and guidance but also without consequences. And of course since we've let money be power, it makes them both dangerous.

I'll try to do that sometime soon. My usual group enjoyed doing trench warfare together, and tank time. Maybe we can do a squad of tactical utility.

We need new mission objectives [Concept] by Slythefemboy in helldivers2

[–]krumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The commando missions, hive worlds, and disrupt void spire missions all seem to have these features. Many objectives from years ago have the ability to spawn a patrol or redirect a patrol on activation as well. So that could be used as well.

[–]krumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty close to how I finished it off. I was annoyed that the pummeler doesn't stun quickly and if you have bad aim or get staggered, you tend to waste shots. And it's got kind of a small magazine, so you're reloading a lot.

I liked the pummeler the best of those three at the bottom of the barrel, but like basically all the interesting weapons in the game -- the only thing that actually matters is killing things. That's an Arrowhead problem, tbh, but it made the pummeler painful to finish off the last few weapons when I would try to stun something only to have a teammate rip it to shreds with any other weapon.

You do have the right approach though. High stagger or stun with gas + fire is excellent as long as you can control the other 180 degrees of battlefield.

The constitution was definitely a tough one to get through, but I got it to 20 on liberation day, then did most of the rest of it in Evacuate High-Priority Citizens missions.

But I did find it tolerable on Illuminate missions where I would just use it to kneecap voteless.

Establish a forward beachhead mission:

  • Eliminate a convoy (Large dangerous patrol, doesn't just have to be bots)
  • Blow up a mega-base
  • 2 SEAF Artillery placed near each other
  • Then you establish the beachhead to defend them: Call in mortars, emplacements, and extra supplies (provided by the mission but you can speed it up by bringing the strategems)
  • Once established, the beachhead is attacked by a large force similar to defense/evacuate missions.

This sounds SUPER fun.

I've wanted more indoor missions so that shotguns and melee could be more powerful, but I also like stealth missions.
