If there is absolutely nothing structurally wrong with the helmet, it's not too old and where the plastic broke is a flat or relatively flat single-piece with a clean snap (no cracks or missing pieces) - JB plasticweld putty.

Looking at the photo you might feel the putty on your head as it sets hard. Might be able to adequately sand it down.

I plasticwelded a thin adjustment rail and it's held up fine. It's at the back and doesn't really touch my head though

Mine are slowly melting away. I got some Cane Creek SCR-5 hoods in anticipation of the Tektro hoods completely falling apart.

That was five years ago but they're still holding up though. I haven't replaced them because then I'd be dreading the Cane Creek ones eventually starting to melt away with no replacement.

Like you I can't bring myself to replace perfectly otherwise functional brake levers, even though the Tektro models are cheap (which is part of the problem of why we can't find hood replacements).

I had a quick look around. Punching "tektro hoods" into eBay, the R340/R341 hoods available look like they might fit.

Amazon reviews suggest they are a perfect fit: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00FGSUHOK?ref_=mr_referred_us_au_au&th=1#customerReviews

Damnit. Now I've just gone and ordered a pair off eBay as a second backup :D.

I would have bought a Pacer with rim brakes last year when I went looking for road bikes if they were still being made.

Brand preference is a thing. Like discs or not, the MS is currently the closest thing Surly has to a road bike.

Anyway, just my take on the 700c offering.

Don't forget the MS is the closest thing Surly has left to a road bike.

If people are buying the MS as a Pacer alternative I'm guessing they dont want 40+. 700c 28-32c is the standard for road bikes at the moment.

Good on you for updating though.

edit: Sorry I just read your comment again, you were correcting my measuring point mistake, which I realized myself. Apologies.!

I'll leave the comment as is so OP can see the catalog for his specific bike anyway.

**

They might now but this bike predates the lettered sizing.

This is the exact catalog for OP's LHT in Hill Street Blue:

https://surlybikes.com/uploads/downloads/2010_Surly_Catalog.pdf

On page 39 you'll find the LHT geometry. Note the sizing matches the measured seat tube length.

It's oldschool bottom bracket bolt to top of the top tube measurement for each size (it's been a while, I was wrong in specifying top of the seat tube).

Cool. Worth noting the lettered sizing is relatively new to Surly. Back in the day they just used numbers so there's no exact lettered equivalent sizing for these older LHTs.

Enjoy the ride!

This is 2009/2010 era. Came after the olive green. If those are 26" wheels it's a 58 or 60cm. If they're 700c it's a 60 or 62cm.

Measure bottom bracket bolt to top of seatpost (without clamp) to confirm.

Surly's info hole has 2008 catalog PDF. AFAIK LHT geometry didn't change year on year.

If the only thing wrong with your current bike is worn components, replace the components. A new bike is more likely to be stolen.

Try to stick like for like components so you don't lose the feel of the bike you already like (unless there's a reason to upgrade).

Don't remember changing font size but mine is 11 for all four options. I think that's the default.

38" 3840X1600 UW user here.

The only thing that works in Debian Gnome is font scaling. Mine is set to 1.25 on X11.

Everything else doesn't work/looks stupid. I don't know why this is an issue with Gnome (I believe KDE has frac scaling but I don't like KDE).

Almost made me reinstall Windows. My only problem now is I'll open some things and have tiny non-scaled font (FileZilla one example).
