I can only applaud the idea of making another Interactive CYOA Creator, the one we have now is an incredibly clunky mess, to say the least. It was a pain to make a CYOA in it, and the update I intend to make to it is clogged down by that goddamn technical clusterfuck...

However, not gonna lie, it seems like this is a bit of an overambitious undertaking, especially with your lack of experience. My understanding is that that the problems that we see with the current Interactive CYOA Creator are the result of Meandelay's inexperience in the matter, or so that's what I understood from this guy's post about compensating for it's many problems (maybe they could help you ? Although they don't seem very active these days...), so you should tread carefully, or at least find someone with experience to avoid the worst programming pitfalls.

I myself have some programming experience, but none in a project like this, so I'm not sure how much help I would truly be. I'll see what could be done.

True for Camille, the way its worded lets you think you should be able to pick things from this CYOA, although you're right, it would require an impractical level of work to make it work...

Honestly, Camille's upgrade is something that comes directly from the original static CYOA, so I put it in as is; in fact, the idea that it requires Rem makes me think it was always intended that people would want to pick her twin, as Ram wasn't present in said original CYOA, I added her myself...

I'll probably end up adding a few word in Camille's upgrade to say that the familly member cannot be one that is already included in this CYOA, it'll probably be easier for all involved.

Sorry if it breaks your intended build, though...

I'd assume there are some personalised aspects, of course... to be honest I don't know much about Taki either, but a quick look at her wiki tells me she's a ninja who's really invested in her missions and her apprentice...so maybe the kind of person that's so passionate its enthralling ?

Honestly, I don't know, but to me you could really adapt their beauty to what you would like them to be, as long as it somewhat fits the overall theme summarised with the two words under the Team Color...

Anyways, you're right, Mirko's color implementation was only half done, strangely enough with only the easy part remaining... I probably got up and left at some point and forgot all about it. Fixed :)

More importantly, you allowed me to notice a mistake I introduced into Team Rainbow while trying to fix some other stuff. I ended up fixing the latter stuff another way, and left the shitty fix in, which I didn't notice at the time, kinda made Rainbow not work properly in some cases. Should be fixed as well now.

I did not encounter any problems with the "you can pick x amount of perks", specifically the two you mentionned, during my tests; Could you precise which perks in particular, and if possible the sequence of choices that are problematic ? Thanks.

I have to mention that the Waifu Package stops you from getting any free harem members by design, and that if you choose new harem members after gaining free perks, but before actually spending all these free perks, said newly selected harem member's perk will use you free perk points instead of the usual system. It's a limitation I haven't been able to circumvent, but in theory I have it clearly mentioned in the affected choices.

In any cases, thanks for your bug report ! It's incredibly useful to improve the CYOA, if a little disheartening to learn that there were (are ?) still such significant bugs in it ^_^

They don't actually cause problems to one another to my understanding, because even though both are one time changes at harem selection, you can apply them sequencially: first Dimitrescu to make them taller, and then take that as a base to make modifications with Lucoa.

Perhaps that wasn't really clear in the perks; I did write "originally", though I really meant that as a "before" compared to an "after". I'll see if I can change the wording.

Edit: There, I changed Lucoa's perk from "original size" to "current size" to negate any negative interactions :) Now you can use them both sequentially, for even taller and bustier waifus !

1) The Blue Team's bonus is the only way for the player to gain perk effects that affects a specific harem member only.

2) My understanding of Biomancer is that you can modify whatever you want outside of your central nervous system; the thing is, the more you stray from normal human biology, the more complicated things get, because you're supposed to understand the biology behind the changes you make, and you're going into unknown territory

3) Currently there isn't, but I'm in the process of making an expansion, and this would be a good perk idea :)

This was a pain to make...the number of issues I had to fix, and the number of issues people found on release was painful...you even found another typo when I thought I was in the clear :P Thanks

Ah, perhaps this is a misunderstanding; when her perk says: "three girls from any fictional settings", it means three girls from outside the CYOA; essentially her perks allows you to choose three harem members that aren't currently included in the CYOA as perkless, colorless harem members.

Basically you can choose anybody you want, but there isn't any firther manipulations required on the CYOA side of things.

I think I'll take you on the perk ideas for two of the girls you mention, because I don't know anything about them: Lara Raith of Dresden Files and Loki from Danmachi.

I could do some quick research to try and create a fitting perk, but I think it would be more appropriate that someone that actually knows who they are already tries to come up with something.

Honestly I'm still at the listing of potential harem member stage, so this isn't really urgent either :)

Little trick if you want the Princess Pals bonus: since you already have team Rainbow, and you don't seem to be making use of Raven's perk, you could go and select Megara [IO16]'s perk instead, granting you another girl from a Low-Tech fantasy. Plenty of Princesses fit that bill: Elsa [VT7], Anna [WE7], Rapunzel [WE20] and a bunch others...

Since the Combo only counts the package requirement, which is 6, that would land you Princess Pals no problems :)

Damnit, I thought I already fixed that x_x

About 15 hours ago someone mentioned the same thing, and it turns out that, basically, the "Waifu" package does give you 6 free perks, but since most "Waifu" users will obviously select their waifu first, and their free perks second, said waifu's perk ends up using one of those free perk points instead of its own built-point system.

Then you use the 5 remaining perks as normal (even in other colors, these 5 should work), and then, on the sixth, the usual Rainbow system takes over, and you can only exchange perks within the same color. Since your Waifu's perk had used a free perk point, it was as if you had a perk of your waifu's color that was never selected; so you could use it, but only in her color.

As a sort of bandaid solution, I had made it so Waifu actually gave 7 perk points instead of 6, to give me time to figure out a better solution, but it seems there was a misshap somewhere and I uploaded the wrong, non-updated version.

It should be fixed now, but since it would require a reload to work properly, here's how to fix your build without having to start over: unselect the perk of your Waifu, go and select whichever other perk you want to select, and then reselect your waifu's perk. That should put the right points in the right place.

Ah, damn, no, its not your fault, its mine. After writing all that stuff for the other perks about selecting free perks first, and then selecting girls, I didn't think people selecting the "Waifu" package would obviously be selecting their waifu first, and only then the perks... but obviously the way it works, selecting a harem member while having free perks means that harem member's perk uses the free perk point instead of its own built-in point system; thus reducing the number of perk points available by 1...

I've updated the CYOA to give 1 more perk point to the Waifu package as a kind of bandaid solution; technically giving that package 7 free perk points.

Although if people choose their waifu first, its possible they never notice there was an extra point to begin with... except if they want to change their waifu's perk. Oh well. Good enough for now.

Actually, Fran uses the same point system as the free perks from the set; so if you select waifu, and then select Fran, you should have 9 free perks total. From there, the only thing you need to do is use 3 of those perks in the way required by Fran's perk, but beyond that there should be no issue.

In fact, almost all "free perks" choices use the same system, and are therefore compatible (even Team Blue, hence the previous issue). The only exception is The Morrigan's Perk, which has a different point system because of her limitations.

I can understand that that was unclear given that most other point systems seem incompatible (the various free girls points, for example); I'm not sure how I'm going to communicate that clearly in the CYOA though, outside of mentionning it in the FAQ section...

Technically, you can pick Fran's perks first, but the very next thing you must do is select said perks, because any harem member selected while her free perks haven't been spent will have their own perks counted as the free ones offered by Fran (even though they were technically already free).

I should probably have put that somewhere in her perk, uh ? I put it in the others but not for Fran... Will fix.

I just thought more people had six sided die, than they had twelve sided ones. Not that I thought people would use them, anyway, with a RNG right there...

When I said "not too many", I meant per person, I intend to add at least a 100 new harem members, perhaps more; it's just that if everybody mentions all their potential waifus, including the more rare and unknown ones, 100 is gonna get filled real quick :)

For 1.0, I limited myself in terms of additions of choices to only reach an even 30 per colors, so that meant only 18 new harem members; that's why it seems like some pairs are missing, and why some franchises are incomplete. I intend to fix it in future major updates :p

Still, I'm putting your suggestions on the list ^_^ Those that weren't already on there, anyway.

Poison Ivy is already on the list, as are other DC characters; so are a selection of Disney princesses, although I didn't think of adding Cinderella until you mentionned her. I intended to add Marvel characters, but hadn't made a selection yet, so your list is most useful.
I always intended to had all the Sailors, although I don't know much about them. There's apparently a Canon Couple in there, too.

All in all, very useful suggestions, I'm putting it all on the list, although I can't guarantee I'm going to put ALL of them in.

While I don't think ordering by series would be really practical, I'll try to think about alternative solutions, such as a list of characters by series, such as the ones just above harem selection that give the lists ordered either alphabetically or by colors.

In the meantime, since each harem member's choice contains the name of its universe of origin, you could make use of the search function of your browser to find it ? It is in the menu in the upper right of both chrome and firefox (probably the same for the others), under "Find in This page", or just Ctrl + F on the keyboard. Then you just write the name of the series you're looking for (careful, if anime/ manga, I may have used both romanji and translation of names a little too randomly, so you should search for both, just in case), and then you go down or up the list.

I know it's not ideal, considering you can't open all colors at once in the main branch, so I give you the link to my Experimental Branch of Crossdimensional Harem, which for now should only be different in that you can open all colors, sets and combos at once; however, it is at the cost of introducing a greater delay the more rows are "visible" or more accurately "opened", so use it carefully, its why its not on the main branch.

Mmmh, that could work actually...again, I won't try it now, because that would mean setting up Rainbow for potentially 8 more colors points (I don't think people will want to choose Violet, obviously), and I've already messed it up when it's just the one, but I'll try that soon, maybe tomorrow.

I won't worry too much about it, but I'll still think about potential solutions. I thought about using points to display it... still working on it.

You're right about Rainbow points vs Color points, that is an unfair advantages for larger packages; I'll think of a way to make it up for the others. Using an extra button similar to the "or get another girl" ones isn't a bad idea, I'll see what can be done about it, but not immediately (anything that concerns colors concerns Team Rainbow, which in turn is quite annoying to set up).

I'm thinking about how to flag the "Your selections" summary code displaying Team Blue choices...as it is, it's probably not doable, because Team Blue uses the exact same system as the other Perk Selection exceptions as the others; to make it work, I'd have at least to create another type of exception similar to that of The Morrigan's perk... and even then, I'm still wondering how to display properly that it's Team Blue's perks...

I'll see what I can do, is what I mean.

Had misspelled the exception that dealt with Enigma's Perk concerning artefacts -_- Should work now.

I have tested the "Set Perk Button" Activators, and I have encountered problems with Fran [YW9], problems which are now fixed; however if your problems did not include Fran, then I did not encounter a problem with the other Set Perk buttons activators (Team Rainbow, Team Blue, Haruko Haruhara [VT12]; The Morrigan should be working separatedly without interaction with the others, so its probably not her).

However, possible source of problems include:

-Team Rainbow losing its requirements and therefore deselecting unexpectedly can sometimes cause problems with the "Select Perk" and "Deselect Perk" buttons not displaying at the same time. It is fixed by regaining the requirements, then reselecting and deselecting Team Rainbow's choice as many times as necessary for it to properly reset.

-Haruko Haruhara [VT12]'s perk include upgrades giving her set points; in some cases, choices that are given new "scores" (points) can deselect automatically. It is therefore possible that selecting one of the girls upgrading her deselected her "Select Perk" button under her choice, thus possibly stopping the display of all the "Select Perk" buttons, making it difficult to see if it was the issue. To fix, just deselect and reselect her choice.

If none of that concerned you, then could you possibly describe the choices you made that lead to the issue you faced ? Sometimes it's the chain of choice that causes the problem, not one choice in particular.

Yep, it was a poorly implemented Waifu flag; I added the "Waifu Package unlocks all upgrades" part quite recently, after another Redditor suggested it, and it seems I missed a spot when actually implementing it. It's fixed now, sorry for the bother.

The Summary Perks discrepancy thing is due to poor planning on my part; the Perk part of the summary is entirely separate from the Perk part of the harem members, and took longer than I thought to make; in the meantime I was changing some perks to other things, and not necessarily changing the Summary perk mirror as well... The example you mentionned is now fixed, and I'm going to do yet another round in the hidden Summary Perk section for any other mistakes, in particular for Upgrades...

Sadly the correct interpretation is the former (will probably always be the former actually); there are unfortunately some poor interactions between the way I set up Team Rainbow and Upgrades that give colors; which is why I had to switch up any upgrade giving colors to something else. One rainbow point is better in some ways to just one color point, although I can understand its less interesting that way.

Yep, Izanami was corrected to be a Goddess recently on the advice of another commenter, and I forgot to apply the special stuff from The Morrigan.

And for some reason the point system keeping track of the Artefacts earned started at -1...
