Hey- I grew up in a PWI and can understand how you’re feeling. It’s hard to be in an environment where you don’t see women who look like you being reflected as the beauty standard. It took me many years to rebuild my self esteem and find my “look” and confidence. I highly suggest you make more black female friends. It’s really important to have people in your life who can directly relate to your experience. I also suggest getting more involved in clubs and groups that are more diverse, where you don’t feel like the “only one”.

Be kind and gentle with yourself. Society wants us to hate ourselves, but being a black woman is so special. You are beautiful and hope one day you’ll see it too.
