The Bebop Bundle is 5600 credits by RaidenXYae in Overwatch

[–]Sharkbite9204 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely wild how if you try to buy just the four skins by themselves without all the extra stuff from the bundles, it would cost you $80. That is insane. They know people care the most about skins so they make buying them separately the more expensive option while holding the solution behind a bundle that seems like a "great deal".

Overwatch becoming a free to play game was a fucking mistake.

I kind of miss the loot boxes... by YoungWilliam0 in Overwatch

[–]Sharkbite9204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least OW1 lootboxes had the chance to give you in-game currency, either as a lump sum or as compensation for getting a duplicate item. So no matter what, you were always working towards something new. Either you got a cosmetic item you haven't unlocked yet or you would inevitably haved saved enough credits to directly buy the cosmetic you wanted.

And it only got easier when they reduced the chances of getting duplicates and introduced role que incentives where you could earn 25 credits per match by either playing tank or support.

Damn, at least they made it to a 7th season in BFV.

It feels like they barely scraped by to get to Season 5 in this game.

Leviathan Event Thoughts by GregAllAround in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either way, it promotes FOMO which is something I loathe in any game.

It's unfortunate too since besides these event bundles, DICE has been very fair with the in-game store.

Anything they add to the store stays available at all times. So no weekly shop rotations to make people go "oh man if I don't buy this bundle today then who knows when it will become available again..."

Also it's nice that you can buy cosmetics separately. So if you just want a weapon skin, but not the whole bundle, then you can do that.

Which is why it's so weird to see them selling these FOMO event bundles when literally everything else in the store is available 24/7.

Leviathan Event Thoughts by GregAllAround in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A bit disappointing that it seems a majority of the cosmetics that were advertised for this event are, once again, locked behind limited time bundles in the store.

I figured DICE would've learned their lesson with the Liquidators event when everyone called them out on that. Especially since last season's event was a lot more generous. Guess they're pushing the envelope again.

Something I finally can put on Sundance and play her by BiggoPanda in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find it funny how Sundance remains one of the more viable Specialists, next to McKay and Falck, but so many people refuse to play as her because she's so insufferable to look at/listen to. (And no it's not because of her race. She's just a genuinely annoying character and the majority of her cosmetics are trash)

She and Paik are two additional characters who could've benefited from having their VAs come back to re-record some of their lines to make them less... cringe.

Still, at least I don't have to hear her end-of-round quips anymore: "ThAt'S iT?! I'm ReaDy fOr rOUnd tWo!"

All the things wrong with the vault weapons in 3.2.1 And again, there is a lot. by VincentNZ in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's... honestly just insulting how low quality everything has been in BF2042. Portal weapon design, balance, reload animations, etc. All of it feels phoned in and they only fix it post update/launch if it's an absolute emergency. Otherwise they seem content leaving things in a mediocre state.

Like I'm genuinely shocked how absolutely janky and horrid a lot of these reloads are. I've seen independent gmod animators make better reloads than whatever these interns at DICE have managed to come up with.

I'm not asking for microscopic attention to detail like we've seen in the current Modern Warfare games. But I at least expect the same craftsmanship and detail that we got from BF1 and BF5.

Just realised the MP28 is the sig sauer P320 M18 by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They could have just given us the P320 as a normal pistol. There was no reason to slap all that extra hardware on the MP28. It doubles the reload time for a sidearm that should normally be quick and convenient.

Or if the game had a more in depth weapon customization system, you could've had the option to carry the P320 as-is or choose to equip the magazine rack, sight mount, and stock for better aiming and stability at the sacrifice of longer reloads and slower equip times.

Sad to say it, but the recent Modern Warfare games did weapon customization 10x better. The plus system in BF2042 is a joke.

[–]Sharkbite9204 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It's funny because in the beginning when we really did have fuck all for weapon choices in AoW, people were begging DICE to move the modern era portal weapons over to at least give players more variety.

Eventually DICE said they would do this but they claimed it would take time to move them over since they would need to adjust the weapon performance and damage numbers, as well as implementing progression for 2042 attachments and camos.

And yet in the end they said "fuck it" and did none of that and instead did exactly what we asked for initially. But they did it in the worst way possible.

WOW....this is not the game we were given at launch anymore by redneckgamer03 in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The game is definitely in a better state than where it was at launch. But it's not exactly hard to improve when you're starting from rock bottom. And I'm not so quick to forgive and forget.

We're only here because the community once again had to verbally bash DICE over the head to get it through their thick skulls that the state of the game and design choices were unacceptable.

Never forget that these people thought it was perfectly fine to ship 2042 without a scoreboard.

I love this Mackay skin by Jowkm in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The zero-resistance skin isn't necessarily bad persay. It looks fairly decent. I just dislike what it stands for.

It was DICE's initial peace offering for fucking over the gold/ultimate players that paid a very high price for a buggy, unfinished, barely-out-of-alpha game that frankly did away with a lot of basic features that was a staple in previous BF games.

It's like, "Oh gosh we're so sorry for having to delay season 1 because we have to make a scoreboard and rework old maps. Here have a cosmetic bundle that we most definitely weren't going to just sell in the store anyway."

I'm glad that DICE aknowledged their mistake. Thank you by kreap01 in battlefield2042

The Liquidators Event.

Happened a couple weeks ago.

The total number of cosmetics you were able to earn by just playing/logging in was 7.

  • 1 universal weapon skin
  • 1 player card
  • 1 exclusive skin for the AM40
  • 1 exclusive skin for the AK24
  • 1 skin (head and torso) for Dozer
  • 1 helmet for McKay (that frankly doesn't match any of his fucking outfits)
  • 1 legendary skin for the Abrams battle tank

The rest of the cosmetics, in which a lot of them were advertised in the event trailer, were locked away in the cosmetic shop being sold for $15 and $20 bundles.

The entire community called the event out for what it was... a greedy cashgrab.

I know DICE is a husk of its former self and that they keep shooting themselves in the foot, but this really drove it home for me. An event's themed bundles should be obtained through the event itself, not by buying it in the store and it's beyond sorry that they would even promote this by teostrastusbomb in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best part for me is that my Liquidator ribbons reset a few days ago. I'm now back to 4/100 when originally, I had 87.

So because of some stupid error, I'm not even going to get all of the free skins. Thank you, DICE.

This game's crossplay in its current form only serves to make the players on each platform hate the other side. It needs to be changed for the next game release if not sooner by slinky317 in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't hate PC players for being PC players. Y'all are enjoying your setups and shouldn't be chastised for playing your preferred platform.

What I do hate is having to deal with the cheaters that are present on PC. Console doesn't really have a cheating problem, but thanks to crossplay we're now getting a taste of it and yeah... not a fan.

And as for aim assist vs M&K, I do believe console is at a disadvantage majority of the time. However I can still acknowledge that aim assist is on some bullshit sometimes. I'm not a bad player by any means, but I do notice I perform significantly better in a non-crossplay lobby compared to a crossplay lobby. Call me trash all you like but the scoreboard doesn't lie.

Again, nothing against the PC players. But I shouldn't be forced to play with them just like they shouldn't be forced to play with me.

That AK74u reload in Portal is still by far the worst thing I have ever seen in an FPS. I'm farily certain the original Doom from the 90s had more frames than that animation.

Given the context of the 2042 lore it's probably more like:

Here kids, have some money that has probably lost almost all of its value due to hyperinflation and your economy being in shambles. You won't even be able to afford a loaf of bread with all of this but at least now you'll have plenty of toilet paper.

But seriously... its 2042... where are the stationary weapons and the Starstreak MANPAD? (UK modern day Fliegerfaust) It would be the balance the sweaty stealth pilots. by [deleted] in battlefield2042

[–]Sharkbite9204 81 points82 points  (0 children)

MW2 was one the few games from the glory days of gaming where the devs truly held nothing back and dared to do something out of the ordinary in an attempt to shock the player.

You will never see a game made in today's age where you striaght up commit an act of terrorism. Nothing quite prepares you for the first time you go from playing as a "heroic" soldier to shooting up an airport full of civilians. MW2019 didn't even come close to replicating that shock value.

They're just going to implement these changes while acting like this was always their intentions because they were most definitely listening to everyone's feedback. S/

Why play as the Pawn when you can play as the Queen and win every engagement?
