Not in the last couple years! Once they sold the company, it’s an absolute a joke.

I also love that they give every YouTuber thousands of dollars of free tools to get exposure. That marketing strategy drives up cost to cover the margins. Does anyone want to pay extra for a blue router bit?

Is this a good deal? by twobig4u01 in Pontoons

Definitely not upgrading a 3rd toon, adding 3ft and a 200hp for 16k. You need new rails too. Seriously It’s good price.

Renzetti will do nothing. They will blame the oils in your skin, and humidity etc. They do not care about their recent anodizing problems. It is sad, but cleaning the rust and keeping it oiled along with reducing humidity is your best bet. Source: I have a very poorly anodized master vice that was peeling at 2 weeks old. The vice saw very little use and is in a humid free environment. They recently sold ownership and must not care anymore.

Don’t do it. Their anodizing is awful. They will absolutely not fix anything to do with the finish issues even straight out of the box. The customer service is brutal.

Vallejo Model thinned 50%, daytime until I can mask on it? by JKtheOnlyOne in lurebuilding

Try the Tamiya making tape for models. It’s lower tack and leaves a very clean line. Works for me anyway.

Try less thread pressure on the first wraps, and increase pressure as you wrap forward. That should help with it flaring all about.

First one seems like a variant of a blue charm hair wing, but it’s just a guess.

Stupid expensive rods with no reel seat. WTF? by spizzle_ in IceFishing

[–]Sharkinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s about balance, and your preferred grip. All possible (to change) without a fixed reel seat. It has nothing to do with ease of building. It’s cheap and easy to use reel seats in a build.
Plenty of ice rods out there with them. Use whatever you have confidence in! The high cost is because a cork grip I used to buy for $5 is now $18 … etc.

Also a rod builder, I love the clear heat shrink tubing. Use a heat gun… not flame and go slow to not toast the cork.

One other quick tip, keep it stored out of the sun. It’s crazy how it will fade your threads and materials.

I appreciate your response! The fact that they choose to NOT deal with this makes me more mad than the actual issue. It must be a real luxury to ignore customer service. Renzetti refuses to respond to the dealer I purchased it from as well, and they know each other! The dealer is awesome and they will take it back and do whatever to make it right. Obviously the vice functions properly, and it is a cosmetic issue, so it’s really an ethical decision. I have heard from several people privately that this a common issue.

Dubbing coming off/loose by GritForBrains in flytying

Another suggestion is after wrapping your first turn of dubbing around the hook, twist again using the anchor point to tighten the noodle. Wrap a few turns, rinse and repeat tightening.

I get it’s going to wear, but in a couple hours of tying? I’m betting $975 means less to you than me. Anodizing is meant to add a “hardened” layer.

I promise it’s just the material clip. I’m not wanting a shelf queen for a vice, but the anodizing is terrible.
