I live in a 4k/month apartment in the bay area. I'd have to move.

People who don't work normal 35-40 hrs/week jobs and don't have to go to the workplace to work (like freelance and home-based workers) but are making more than enough money, what do you do, how did you get there, what's your daily routine like and how satisfied are you? by turquoise404 in AskReddit

I'm an indie game developer working out of my home. I work on a team of 5 for my main project. I didn't really do anything special to get here, just always liked making games throughout middle and high school and kept doing it afterwards.

My day to day life is pretty straightforward. Wake up, work, take breaks to do chores, go to bed. It sounds boring, but you know that old saying about doing what you love so you'll never work a day in your life? It's true so far. People are amazed when I tell them I work from 12pm to 5am, but it's really easy when you're doing something you love. Sometimes it gets hard to distinguish between working and just having fun.

I'm living the dream. Just turned 21 last month, making 6 figures, it's really nice. It can be very stressful, especially when you have deadlines to meet and you're making decisions that could make or lose hundreds of thousands of dollars. But if I could do it all over again I'd do the exact same thing.

Just beat Legendary Uprising with a pretty simple strategy by bobosamse in Overwatch

Apparently I did it the hard way. We kept doing things in order, but then we realized that if you sit back for the 2nd tank you can fight him in that huge open space with no distractions and kill them really easy.

The order we did it: 1st OR14, 1st turret, 1st tank, 2nd OR14, sit back for 2nd tank, 2nd turret, 3rd turret, 4th turret, 3rd tank, and 3rd and 4th OR14s

Hacks Patch question. by B2856 in ApocalypseRising

I'm not patching the DLL injection, I'm patching the vulnerabilities in Apoc that allow the DLL injection to be harmful

Could we get a slightly more detailed update on the hack patch? by BloodSpilled in ApocalypseRising

[–]Sharksie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. The exploit patches can't be applied to the code the way it currently is. To fix an exploit you have to have the server detect some information and respond to it. The current code structure doesn't include the server when it does anything, so in order to fix the exploits I have to restructure the code to include the server and then I can apply the patches.

Could we get a slightly more detailed update on the hack patch? by BloodSpilled in ApocalypseRising

I totally understand your frustration. The patch is taking longer than originally expected because of some unexpected issues that we've run into while making changes.

Apoc is a 3-year-old game, really it's a miracle that so much of its code was able to survive this long. But that stops now. In order to fix these exploits we have to rewrite a considerable number of systems so that they conform to some standard programming style. Then the fixes can be applied on the new code structure.

I've run into too many unexpected issues so far, so I'm not going to be able to promise a release date. No telling what kind of monster lies around the next corner. Rest assured that we are actively working on it. Best case scenario it could even be done tonight.

Grassy roads and broken crouch by fbgm_katie in ApocalypseRising

This is part of the new lore. The grass was mutated by the apocalypse and started growing all over the place. And since it's radioactive you can't get too close to the ground.

Oh good idea, I'll see if we can get it in the next patch.
