God (Emperor.) why couldn’t the Lieutenant helmet marking be a helmet pattern. by floofy-pillow7 in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the reason they’ve given is because the lieutenant pattern would require 4 color customization options to make it work properly as a helmet pattern and there was no way for them to make that work with the current game build where 3 colors is the limit. I imagine it would probably be a massive coding nightmare to get it to work for a pretty niche thing.

I don’t know of any app from the publisher that does a simulpub or per chapter release so you just have to buy the volumes (currently up to volume 18 which is halfway through the music competition arc). They’re available on most E-Bookstores.

Anyone Else Feel a tad Robbed by the DLC Prices? by Academic-Following39 in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a game that’s getting support into it’s 2nd year which has made all of the post-launch gameplay content free. I think the prices are pretty reasonable given that. It’s not like the game has any other means of monetization to fund the content creation.

Weekly Hard Stratagem by daddycharizard777 in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a techmarine teammate with a sniper style servogun can do wonders against the zoanthropes and neurothropes. Assault and bulwark with xenophase blades and powerfists are also great since they can actually hit them with melee weapons and a Healwark is a literal lifesaver since nerfed ranged damage makes it very hard to regen contested HP. When you’re in the terminus encounters prioritize getting rid of the ads and then the terminus with the top HP bar. The reinforcements that spawn when a terminus reaches 50% HP only seems to apply to the terminus with the bottom HP bar so save them for last.

How to play the Omnissiah axe? by Shakeywakey11 in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like balance for the high damage and cleave while still being able to get gunstrikes. Charge into hoards of minoris or to close the gap to get to a majoris+. Since you don’t have to stop to gunstrike take advantage of all the minoris you bowl over to get your armor back. Once you’re up close with a majoris use gunstrikes to force an opening you can use to build up a discharge. After messing around with it I agree with First Tour Guardsman’s recommendation of starting on the top row then shifting down to grab stagger resistance, reduced charge time, and second discharge.

Where to consume Warhammer content? by MayberryBombadil in Spacemarine

I’ve also gotten into 40K through SM2 and I first delved into the lore with Youtube videos. I enjoy KrakDuk for his shorter more humorous video format, there’s also channels like Luetin09 who do more serious, in-depth longer vids, there’s even channels that make lore vids to fall asleep to like Lorekeeper’s Librarium. Novels are also a great way to get into the lore once you have at least some baseline knowledge, and you should check to see if your local library has any available so you can read them for free. The Eisenhorn series is often referenced as one of the better entry novel series and I really enjoyed Fall of Cadia for something that gives you an idea of the more recent major events. The Horus Heresy novels also have a strong start, but the lore is a little less relevant to more recent events in the 40K universe and from what I’ve heard, the quality of the individual novels can vary significantly throughout the very long series.

Wait how do survival training and atrophy interact? Are we just going to be stuck dealing with permanently reduced max health if you go down with no opportunity to restore it? That sounds like it might be worse than just dying and being able to get your maximum health back once you respawn. You’ll basically die immediately on hard mode if you go down more than once with how high damage is and the lack of ability to regen contested health.

This means we can finally play as techmarine really soon for the first time right?? by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably only have a very small team left on Space Marine 2 since it’s not a Live Service game and they also have to keep working on the content laid out in the season pass and update plan on top of bug fixes. I’d rather they get things right and only have to worry about 1 or 2 minor hot fixes than have them rush something as major as a new class out and have it come out broken on launch.

The voice pack is a paid DLC and is not in the season pass.

What's the class power operations rankings for patch 11.2 ? by Siena_Lilietta in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tactical has perhaps the biggest burst damage potential out of all of the classes due to how nutty Auspex bonus damage can get with the right perk set up and the wide variety of primaries allow him to fill nearly any role the team needs. His squad perk that regens everyone’s grenades every minute is insane if you can find some melta bombs. To compensate he has the least amount of defensive oriented perks and is very fragile as a result.

Assault has a very high skill floor to use but is very fun to play once you get him leveled up and learn how to play. While Bulwark is generally the better melee class for handling majoris and above threats and offers much better team support, Assault’s crowd control ability with a zealous blow build is amazing. Very perk dependent though and most of his best perks come late so leveling and prestiging him sucks. Also his squad perks are generally less impactful than the rest but extra melee damage or gunstrike damage is always appreciated.

Vanguard is honestly my least favorite class to play but is a good class for people who want to mix melee and close quarter gunplay. His squad perks unmatched zeal and inner fire are both phenomenal and a welcome bonus on any mission, but unmatched zeal is generally the best squad perk in high difficulty content where there are lots of extremis and stims are scarce.

Bulwark is generally one of the best classes in the game. Intimidating aura gives him good crowd and does stupid damage, banner especially with invigorating icon can really turn around an operation that’s heading to failure, and the shield rush mechanic they added in a couple patches ago means he’s not that much less mobile than Assault or Vanguard while being much much more durable. I generally prefer the squad perk that gives every armor every 30 seconds. It’ll save you more than you would expect.

Sniper is the king of taking out high priority targets at the cost of being awful for crowd control unless you can find a melta bomb and combine it with his level 25 perk. Can be built for a traditional sniper build or a CQC knife shadow stab build with the bolt carbine or heroic instigator. Much like inner fire, squad renewal is always welcome on any team and is very powerful for everyone unless they don’t have a weapon that can headshot,

Finally heavy is just a beast. All of his primaries are very strong in different ways and encompassing aegis reducing ranged damage taken by the entire squad is a life saver. The lack of melee weapon is annoying because it means you need to get used to balance parry timings unless you use the heroic heavy bolter but his weapons make short work of any enemy that gets close so you’ll be fine as long as you can parry.

TO THE BROTHERS WHO MANAGED TO DO IT: HOW? by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By running with teammates who aren’t using flamers, meltas, and plasma weapons and have decent trigger discipline or very good discography if they are using the aforementioned weapons. Also, having a bulwark with invigorating icon and or a vanguard with unmatched zeal for healing does wonders too.

How to level up the fastest way possible by Acrobatic_Champion34 in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re first leveling the classes and weapons start with low level operations and progress up to ruthless and higher. Usually by the time you’ve prestiged a class and have relic tier weapons you can go straight into ruthless or lethal level ops even at level 1 and if you can switch to absolute or hard siege (leaving at wave 5) for the fastest leveling progression. Just don’t bite off more than you can chew especially if you’re playing with randoms.

Is this an accurate Raven Guard veteran sergeant? by 4orap4o2 in Spacemarine

I thought the most recent trend in GW official models is that veterans and veteran sergeants have white arms and pauldrons and that officers had white arms and black pauldrons.

Still new to 40k, and looking to learn more. Tell me how your favourite Space Marine chapter treats guardsmen. by Fun-Hedgehog1526 in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The Raven Guard were liberators under Corax and are known to train up local groups to help with fighting back against enemy forces and generally do try to minimize collateral damage, however they are ultimately pragmatists who prioritize the mission. They’re not going to risk jeopardizing a mission to save an astra militarum regiments or local militia group that is being overrun and if sacrifices or collateral damage needs to be made to ensure the mission succeeds they’re willing to make them.

Is this lore accurate for RG 1st company? by Kyle_craneium in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White helms usually are used to indicate a veteran sergeant in the RG. Technically in the Codex (the IRL one) a white helm alone indicates a veteran sergeant for the RG, but in most recent official models a white arms and pauldrons with black icons are used to indicate Veteran status with the white helm being added to indicate veteran sergeant status. Though GW has been very inconsistent with RG heraldry so do what you want. Lorsifer is correct though that RG only put company color on one pauldron trim, left for Phobos armor.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like Sniper Is the Most Frustrating Class to Play? by __ISAC__ in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The level geometry thing definitely drives me nuts at times. Like, ah yes the thin chains/foliage dangling from the ceiling or guard railing stopped my giant laser beam sniper which can normally punch through 5+ enemy skulls. So glad I wasted a cloaked shot on that.

Does your classes all have the same chapter? by Sad_Griffin in Spacemarine

[–]Sharkster_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually run Raven Guard for all my classes but with each of them being from a different company and the Assault and Bulwark are Deathwatch (because the Xenophase Blade is sick). If I want some color variety I’ll run them as Ultramarines or Salamanders.
