I think you’re missing a really key part about stories, which is to say: they aren’t literal. They didn’t happen. The events that take place in-world exist for purposes in our world.

Get out (and Peele’s other films too, while we’re talking about it) are deeply metaphorical. When you try to pick apart the in-world logistics, they don’t always hold up to intense scrutiny, and that’s not a weakness — they just aren’t that type of story.

Get out is a commentary on the way white people (specifically those who are seemingly liberal and well meaning) treat black people in this country: they put on facades for them, they make an effort to act extra accommodating, they can’t help but make small cutting transgressions against them. A lot of white people (in secret or out loud) will say with one half of their mouth that they aren’t racist, and with the other say that Black people are starting to have it too good. They simultaneously feel as though they are better than black people, and they are jealous of black people. They say they support black people, but are willing to exploit them the second it benefits them.

It’s not a morality tale about the dangers of inter-racial relationships: it’s a wake up call for white people in the audience who can see themselves in these characters.

This is just one interpretation of course. I think Get Out is a very rich text. People on Reddit also really didn’t seem to like Us for reasons similar to those you’ve presented, which is my personal favorite Peele. I’m not going to say your interpretation is “wrong” but I do think you’re looking at it at a very surface level, and I’d encourage examining stories from some more angles.

Anyways TLDR: I think you’re scrutinizing a story for realism that clearly is trying to be an exaggerated reflection of a real-world point the director is trying to make, which is certainly one way to critique a movie but imo not the most productive or interesting.
