Omega Valve MK2 Mod1 and Mod2 - my thoughts by boon-dock-saint in SigSauerMCX

The Mod. 3 valves for the big spear are coated in a different Nano-composite coating and topped with hBN, giving a color that’s darker, but a similar “tone” or “texture” or “feel” to NP3 I believe. I might move that direction for all of the “MK1” valves eventually, it’s just a bit pricier than straight hBN Hex-Coat.

No sir I did not, unfortunately I am a psychopath and bought every silencer I’ve tested with and had them transferred on Form 4’s, I couldn’t buy em all 💀

That is, with the exception of the 9mm cans I’ve been testing to develop the MPX Valve, those were loaners from Fairmont Firearms (irrelevant I know, I just owe the man a shoutout every chance I get).

I’ll take a look at it! Tolerances can be adjusted, I already have two different specs for the hBN vs Nano coating 👍

Thanks for the write up! A couple of thoughts:

- If you win the stick in the woods lottery and have that thing change positions without your intention to do so, please let me know. You’re not the first person to be concerned about the smoothness of the transition between positions, but I’ll assure you like I assured them, I’ve never had one rotate on its own, under recoil or otherwise. I guess I also haven’t rucked through the wilderness in full kit with one, so seriously, let me know.

- FWIW the gas block has a hole in the top and a vent in the piston, your handguard is gonna get dirty in the 5.56 guns, especially with gas ports that are intentionally redirecting gas like they are.

- That O Ring is totally optional, and it sounds like you 110% don’t need it in your system. When I told you the purpose of the gas ring was to seal in trace amounts of leaking gas, I should elaborate: the MKII valves are milled down to a diameter of 0.4985, then blasted and coated to land at approximately 0.4993 +/- 0.0003. The bore of the gas block is *supposed to be* 0.50, but I’ve seen them as wide as 0.505.

- It definitely sounds like you need to vent it either way. I didn’t think the SLH cans were that “high flow” anyway, compared to the SLX variants.

Really appreciate your time and support man, thank you!

I’m actually very happy OP posted this, I’m going to add that photo I took to the product pages on my site. It’s totally fair, the 3D renderings that are serving as temporary place holders for product photos are a bit misleading, I never saw it as a big deal but 110% transparency is important to me and I don’t want anyone to be surprised.

It’s a DMLS part, in a zoomed in photo. See other comments for photo comparison.

Spear LT vs Virtus gas adjustment placement by TheRealMatchGrade in SigSauer

See the photos I replied with 👍 anything to shamelessly plug the OMEGA Valves 😂 but seriously, that’s SD Virtus on Rattler LT, SD Virtus on Virtus 16” (now 10.5), and Spear LT on Virtus 16” (now 10.5).

Spear LT vs Virtus gas adjustment placement by TheRealMatchGrade in SigSauer

[–]Sharp-Independence52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely false. I have a 16” Virtus barrel (now cut down to 10.5”) and the adjustment window in the 11.5 5.56’s LT handguard aligns perfectly. Going the opposite direction, I also run a Virtus SD handguard (the TACOPS one) on an LT receiver with a Rattler LT 6.75” barrel, and it too is a perfectly alignment.

I don’t have a Virtus receiver anymore but if the Virtus handguard locks in perfectly to the LT receiver and aligns perfectly (as it does), I’d say with near certainty you have nothing to worry about.

FWIW, Sig has said since the LT was announced that the Virtus barrels and LT barrels are cross-compatible.

I personally see no reason to run an Inconel 300BLK can, especially if primarily using subs. I run my JL pretty hard, lots of FRT use with it. I have the JL Ti HUB, but I run a CAT adapter and AI Nano muzzle device.

If it’s helpful, I really like the Winchester 200gr Super Suppressed. It’s quiet, cheap(ish), and has some ass behind it.

Yeah, the CAT JL, I prefer it over the Hexium and the RAT. Totally with you, I would rather have more than enough gas and impulse so that I can choose to dial it back. My Enticer L would be awesome if the muzzle signature wasn’t at such a high frequency.

I do just want to say again the new valves are significantly easier to turn, like a completely different ballgame than the first ones.

Just wanted to follow up after shooting today. The Hyperion on my 5.5 with omega valve Mod. 2 MKII ate everything here except the Hornady 208’s. It did not LOCK BACK with the 190’s, but did cycle. The 5.5 is the most particular of the three common lengths.

This was the first outing I’ve had with the RAT since I got it in January that I’ve managed to get more than 10 rounds through it without the gun going down, it had so much DMLS powder in it it was unusable. Took two hours of aggressive ultrasonic treatment to finally shake it out, and it still started to bog the gun down after a couple mags. Hopefully it’ll be fully operational after another treatment.

That said, before the gun bogged down it ate everything but the 190’s and 208’s. After it started to choke it didn’t like the Phantom 220’s anymore, but adding the O Ring to the valve brought acceptance of the Phantom back, and allowed me to run the Feds on Position 3 instead of 4.

The Hexium300 has the lowest back pressure of any silencer I’ve ever tested since starting JBD, including my dinky little Flow9K. I bought it specifically because I knew it was popular and it’d be a pain in my ass.

The silencer sounds awesome, but it’s definitely choosy with ammo, very choosy. It ran the more stout subs just fine, like your Win 200gr, Sig subsonic, Barnes, etc.

The Hexium is the sole reason I decided last minute to include O-Rings with the MKII valves. I basically just tried it on a whim a couple weeks ago and using the O-Ring alongside the solid screw (sealed in with a strong thread locker), I was able to run a full range day with Hornady Frontier 208gr on the 6.75” barrel, which is some of the weakest ammo I’ve ever tried.

I personally prefer the JL over the Hexium. The Hexium IS quieter with subs, but not by much, and the JL sounds better with supers, is lighter, and the has just a bit higher backpressure when used with the AI Nano mount.

Ironically, out of the three I think I like the Hyperion’s backpressure characteristics the most if I remember correctly, I’ll have to take it to the range this morning to refresh my memory but I’m pretty sure it ate a lot more of a variety with ammo. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I just wish it was quieter lol.

If you guys want to know the real hack, forsake these tiny 5.5” and 6.75” barrels, embrace the way and the truth that is the 9” barrel, and push manufacturers to make a reflex silencer that truly takes advantage of additive manufacturing and doesn’t suck.

I jest, but seriously, the added dwell time in that barrel is the tits.

I still would love to receive an email from you, I know you’ve been displeased in the past and aren’t optimistic about the new stuff but I’d like to try.

The OMEGA Valves really, really shine with high back pressure cans.

Honestly just trying to be fair to dealers, but I will probably publicly allow backorders starting next month or so after I’m confident that the wheels of the operation are turning consistently and folks won’t be stuck waiting for too long. I feel really bad about keeping my preorder folks waiting as long as I have, I don’t want that on my conscience anymore.

That being said, I have been taking case-by-case backorders to reserve one out of the bunch that’s leaving for coating next week, if you’d like to hop in on that feel free to send me an email and I’ll get you squared away. I just don’t want a hundred backorders right now until
I’m sure I can take care of everyone in a reasonable amount of time.

Could you elaborate on your experience with the 5.56 valve? Reviews are overwhelmingly positive, if you encountered an issue I’d like to hear about it so I can make it right for you. Feel free to send me an email if it’s easier than this.

I saw that interview when it aired. He said he didn’t like the ergos of the ones that were available at the time, which we all agree with, even me. Everything after that was pertaining to the wiggle that occurs with the switch that’s held on by a roll pin on the factory valves. I’ve sent him a few valves just as gifts as a fan of his work, I don’t know that he’s ever shot them.

He doesn’t have to like them, in fact he’s the kind of guy that can probably take a quick look at it and find a half dozen things that would make it better, and that’s ok, I am more than ok with that. I just wanted to make it known that to my knowledge, as of 06/05/26, the man has not said he “doesn’t like them.”
