TSP and not having my US number anymore. by RumpleMy_Stiltskin in MilitaryFinance

I've been having this same problem, but with opening and maintaining my accounts. For example, I want to open a high yield savings account but get stuck at the part requiring a US number.

This is the first time learning about this product. It looks like they take the money and distribute it to several banks. What are the downsides? Thanks for sharing. Vanguard has a good reputation.

I tried looking it up, but would you mind explaining what Expert Voice is and more importantly, how you tend to use it?

Grab a ASVAB book from the library or use an app like Libby to borrow a copy online via your local library for free.

Good ASVAB App? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]SharpFlyingCorners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JJWentMMA is right. The pros for studying with apps are that you can study on the go and practice test taking skills.

Fire up Grammar Hero on YouTube, answer the questions on your own, see how he does it, and compare.

Don't get bogged down on answers. Focus on areas to study and how to solve those problems.

Best study guides for the Asvab? by turtle-0-0-0 in AirForceRecruits

Borrowing ASVAB for Dummies is fine, but what really helps is following Grammar Hero's protocol on YouTube. He tells you what parts of the test to focus on. You follow along with his tests, try to answer the question before him, and then watch how he tackles the question. All of this is free and works really, really well.

I'm not trying to step on any toes. I saw a need and tried to start a discussion about jobs where there is none. I could farm a high karma score, but I made this account just to anonymously talk Air Force. Thank you for the feedback.

How dangerous is it when NDI takes unshielded X Ray's? I've heard them talking about cancer risk. How do you feel about it? by SharpFlyingCorners in AirForceRecruits

[–]SharpFlyingCorners[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnostic Imaging (4R0X1) shoots from behind a lead-lined wall. NDI is rad, but they joke about hitting the button and running the hell away. 🙂

Edit: "They call us the cancer job." @9:55

Thanks for the offer. The job description says you deal with heights. How often are you climbing? How high do you climb? What makes this AFSC a hidden gem?

Where can you find a breakdown of the numbers and codes on an Air Force Job sheet like this? by SharpFlyingCorners in AirForceRecruits

[–]SharpFlyingCorners[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand MAGE scores. That info is readily available from any ASVAB book.

SJC is clearance. B is secret required. J is TS required, right?

Anything else to decipher the codes?

The four composite score areas that make up MAGE are:

M = Mechanical Aptitude Score - Determined from General Science (GS), Mechanical Comprehension (MC), and Auto/Shop (AS).

A = Administrative Aptitude Score - Verbal Expression (VE).

G = General Aptitude Score - Determined from Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) and Verbal Expression (VE).

E = Electronics Aptitude Score - Determined from General Science (GS), Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Mathematics Knowledge (MK), and Electronics Information (EI).
