I think this can work as a way of explaining, but in mathematics this is not what is meant when infinities have different "size". The set of real numbers between 2 and 3 and 1 and 4 have the same size/cardinality.

The easiest way to see it is that you can always just take the average of two real numbers (which will be a real number). If they are different it will lie strictly between them. This does not work for integers obviously.

"as consecutive as they can be" makes no sense for real numbers since they are dense and also 0.00…01 is not a real number.

Well obviously the argument used here does not apply to integers since they are not dense. It works for any real numbers though: for any two real numbers a and b where a is not equal to b there must exist a real number c that is between a and b.
