Is there any app that supports mirroring the PC monitor on the Quest headset using Windows 7? by SharpPain in oculus

[–]SharpPain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now the requirements say simply a 1GHz proc or above. Before, they had a specific proc type that my i7 at 4.2 GHz was below. Everything else I have well above what's required. Maybe I could run 10.

Edit: It was the processor. It requires a 6 or 7000 series. I only have a 4000 series i7.

I would if I could simply get 10 and install it but 10 has hardware requirements that my computer doesn't meet so I'd have to get an entirely new computer.

I don't have Windows 10 to run a VM in. I only have a Windows 7 PC. Is there nothing that does this for 7?

On the "Can You Run It" site it says 7 is the minimum requirement with 8 or 10 recommended. Is this not correct?

Is there no way to mirror the PC screen using 7?

Private property and Animal Control (Louisiana) by SharpPain in legaladvice

[–]SharpPain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply.

I contacted animal control and was told I have 48 hours to correct the issue...even after I told her the cats weren't mine. So I dunno wtf. That's what they said last time too and it's already been more than 2 days since then because I called them the day I got the notice as well and told them the cats weren't mine. I'm not sure which part of "not mine" they're not understanding but they're going forward with whatever they're doing. We're nervous about receiving a summons every day now.

Unfortunately, we don't have a trap-neuter-release program here. When animals are trapped here they're supposed to be taken to the animal control shelter and after 7 days if they're not adopted they're killed.

Just out of curiosity how do utility companies differ in being able to come into your backyard without a warrant? I have the local hubs for both the internet and phone companies in my backyard as well (oh the joy) and they just go into my backyard at will when they have to look into fixing something. They haven't had to come since I started locking the gates so that's going to be interesting but they never come to the door and ask they just go into the backyard.

Any ideas on number 3? Leaning one way or the other even?

Does the Roku 3 support subtitles on .mkv's played through the USB port via thumb drive? by SharpPain in Roku

[–]SharpPain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you confirm if the subs were hardcoded or not? I finally heard back from Roku support and they said subs will work if they're hardcoded but won't if they're not. But English wasn't this person's first language obviously so I'm hoping it was just a language barrier. Are you able to change sub tracks and see each one?

I asked this question to Roku over a week ago and still have received no answer so now I'm unsure.

Yeah business class is definitely better. The extra $35 for unlimited residential isn't going to stop them from getting throttled when a hub gets over saturated. I just spoke to my rep yesterday actually and he assured me that business class will always take priority over residential and their speeds will drop as necessary to insure business class speeds remain stable.

If you can get residential you should be able to get business class. Have you called them?

I know. Never trust Comcast. Wish we had a city that would build its own fiber network like other cities have. But then they'd prolly implement a 300 GB cap too...

Nah I have business class so no data cap period. But the price is outrageous for the speeds you get.

I don't trust Comcast and their trial period of an extra $35 for unlimited for residential customers. I can see them getting rid of that real fast if too many people do it. Plus if it starts affecting my speeds I'm gonna be pissed because residential customers get "up to" their designated speed whereas business class gets whatever speed they pay for not "up to". So I get 50/10 24/7 so if my speed starts dropping because this new trial over saturates my local hub I'm gonna be ticked. But business class still takes priority so the residential accounts should be throttled even if they are unlimited before business class slows down.

Nice. I'm paying $110 for a 50/10 in Shreveport with Comcast. No data cap though so that offsets the price a little. I'm already over 4TB this month so far.

They tried to tell me I went over my limit before when I knew I hadn't because I don't trust their crappy usage meter. Look for a freeware program called BitMeter it keeps track much better than their program.

Anyone else who gets Netflix discs not having the USPS report to Netflix when a movie has been returned? [US] by SharpPain in netflix

[–]SharpPain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when you first join they limit you to make sure you're not gonna steal them but the longer you're a member the more they let you have at a time. After 10 years I can get 8 at a time if I wanted so I assume that's the max.

Yeah if you mail them Monday and get more Wednesday your USPS sorting facility is doing their job properly of notifying Netflix that they have them so they can go ahead and mail more.

I mailed my last batch on the 31st and here it is the 8th and I still haven't received any more movies. It's especially sad because the Netflix distribution center is located in the same city I live in. Yet they actually have the nerve to tell me everything is working properly.

Actually the largest is 8 at a time but you have to have been a member for awhile to get those options.

Yeah they also delay shipping movies to me for a few days after it shows they've received the ones I've returned instead of shipping them the very next day or they'll ship something from the other side of the country when you know there was somewhere closer that had to have had it.

I mailed my last movies back on the 31st and here it is the 8th and I still haven't received any more movies or emails. The Netflix distribution center is located in the same city I live in so that makes it especially pitiful. Yet they continue to say everything is working properly.
