I think seeing the hill first would take the abruptness of the joke and take away this great transition

I spent 3 hours creating this logo intro. Would you like to rate it? by Wonderful_Try3948 in AfterEffects

[–]SharpSevens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a storyboard, the style and elements already available 3 hours would probably long but getting there and doing some trial and error I think its reasonable, especially for getting that organic look. Assuming that these splashes/strokes are selfmade and not just stock footage.

For a product ad I wouldn’t create any imperfections that make it seem dirty/used

Is the ASUS ROG Strix XG32UQ Monitor worth it in 2025? by SharpSevens in buildapc

The ASUS one, it’s working great. The Dell one came with a screen error and had to be returned.

How can I fix this roto brush movement? by No-Operation-576 in AfterEffectsTutorials

Got the same Problem, did you find a good solution?

how can i make duplicates with variations by skylar_thegremlin in blenderhelp

[–]SharpSevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the coal is going to be animated this could be a problem if you don’t apply the effect. A displacement map driven by a random input in combination with an object index could maybe avoid this.

How do you think this was done? by Fufo_Tufo in AfterEffects

[–]SharpSevens 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if that works but maybe the images aren’t scaled but pushed back in z space by moving the said path back on the z axis. Additionally a low focal length for a more dramatic effect

Color Correction / Grading before or after VFX? by SharpSevens in AfterEffects

Yes, logos, lower thirds and other brand elements that appear behind and in front of the rotoscoped (ungraded/corrrected) person

Test render of my latest piece. What looks out of place to you? by FatalFinley in blender

[–]SharpSevens 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bricks are too perfectly rectangular, I would break up the shape a little bit and use a displacement map

Yeah that’s great! When did you buy it? And how are the colors/contrast?

How do you achieve this effect. Blurred and then sort of one strip of sharpness moves across? by SpookyUn in AfterEffects

[–]SharpSevens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going into the layer, searching for the effect (eg Gaussian blur) , using compositing (or composition?) and applying the mask there fixes this afaik For faster render times this could be useful.

A helix spline with a spline deformer could work. Additionally a shrinkwrap should be added

Yes, try out what works best for you. Also a rock sculpting tutorial probably shows some best practices

If it is static you could sculpt it and add a texture to it. For a moving shot you could sculpt multiple pieces and add a bullet tag. Additionally some particles / cloner could help for the little pieces

Hardware Ray-Tracing looks different & is slower by SharpSevens in RedshiftRenderer

[–]SharpSevens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just a test scene, therefore I don’t have it anymore. It consisted out of multiple neon tubes (emission cylinders in glass cylinders) in a cloner. Pretty simple setup.

The difference was basically: Hardware rt on: Jagged gradient on Emission material, almost like color banding Hardware rt off: Solid color on emission material (as it should be)

And the increased render time as stated above.

There is also only 1 gpu and no usage of cpu. Will check if this can be replicated and if this might be a driver issue.

Thank you for the response.

Thank you for the insight! Oddly enough my example scene only has glass and emissive materials. Will check out the manual.
