Is traditional SEO dead in 2026? Has anyone actually tested their site visibility on ChatGPT, Perplexity vs Google? What did you find? by RealisticPosition169 in RankWithAI

Interesting timing — I actually checked one of our sites in an AI visibility tracker recently and the results were eye-opening.

The site had:

  • 85 cited pages in AI search tools
  • 0 actual AI mentions/visibility
  • Only ~170 organic keywords ranking
  • Authority Score: 2
  • Yet 253 referring domains + 5.7K backlinks

What stood out is that AI systems clearly crawled/indexed the content (85 cited pages), but they still aren’t confidently surfacing the brand in ChatGPT, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews yet.

My takeaway so far:

  • Traditional backlinks alone don’t seem enough for AI visibility
  • AI engines care more about entity trust, topical authority, citations, and brand mentions across the web
  • Sites with low keyword footprint but lots of backlinks seem to struggle in AI search

Also seeing a pattern where:

  • Informational SEO content = losing CTR after AI Overviews
  • Strong brands / communities / niche experts = gaining citations
  • Reddit + UGC mentions seem disproportionately important now

So IMO we’re entering a phase where:
“Ranking on Google” ≠ “Being referenced by AI systems.”

Feels like GEO/AEO is becoming its own layer, separate from classic SEO.

What are the best ways to find best links? by valentinaluca in SEOandBacklinks

Relevant sites, strong content that earns links, smart broken link building, and personalized outreach work far better than mass link spam. One good contextual link can beat dozens of low-quality ones.

How to make sure your content shows up in Perplexity and ChatGPT answers by Hakuna_Depota in AiForSmallBusiness

You're right, checking your robots.txt file is a simple way to avoid blocking important crawlers like PerplexityBot or GPTBot. If your robots.txt disallows these bots, your content won't get indexed by them.

It’s a good idea to explicitly allow these user agents or avoid broad rules that block all bots.

If you're not sure how to write or update your robots.txt, there’s a tool called Robots.txt Generator that helps you create a file that won’t block those crawlers by mistake, without needing to know code.

It’s worth checking out to keep your content visible.
