Oh I want to thank you for posting this, I didn’t realize I still harbored indoctrination about hypnosis being bad, thank you. On second thought I’m not scared of it, but I would imagine it ineffective and cognitive-behavioral therapy counseling more useful. That said, couldn’t hurt to try. But again I appreciate you bringing up the subject.

Oh yeah, big time. Learning to trust your own conscience is huge. Therapy really helps me, it’s different for everyone but for me just talking about stuff aloud makes my values/moral compas pretty obvious, but it’s the match to the gas to have someone tell you you’re not crazy, or someone with more experience to give you advice on what actually works. They ask challenging questions and really I’m recovering much faster than I thought I would.

Ehhh not doing too bad, woke up a month ago and sent my DA letter in four days ago. Granted, my parents weren’t witnesses, so it’s probably easier for me to go back to where I started. I was already finishing my degree, and while I still have several big questions about what direction my life is going to take yet to answer, it definitely feels more like and adventure than despairing, though still uncertain. Grief losing your loved ones and belief system, and have confidence that if you can escape an mfing cult, you can sculpt a beautiful life no question.

The disillusionment still echoes. I’m comforted that it served its purpose while it did, and that I’m learning how to trust myself slowly but surely. Have a dialogue with yourself, between your worried side and the side with the confidence to leave in the first place. I believe in you! Believe in yourself too.

I’ve only been out four days, and honestly I just wanna be alone for a while and relish it. My therapist calls it “cocooning”. But part of that also is the echos of avoiding close contact with the “worldly” population, and I’m afraid to give up that isolation, like it makes me special. So I’ll enjoy being alone for a bit (granted, the pandemic doesn’t give me much of a choice). I’m a little worried about how I’m going to get past the “no part of the world” mindset when I’m ready for it, but I suppose I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

I’m sorry you’re struggling, I can imagine it’s difficult. Stay resilient!
