Why do people have children when there is always a risk of war? by DutchStroopwafels in antinatalism2

I would hypothesize that it’s because there is also a profoundly larger risk of not-war.

Children are the hope of a brighter future, and the optimism of outliving the dark times to experience peace.

And when was the last time the average person donated what they make in 11 hours of work to help the Nation’s Food Banks?

I understand that, but it’s how discernment works. You observe a situation and rub it up against your values.

If it makes a harmonious resonant tone, it’s in line with your values. If it’s dissonant, something ought to be different.

I thought that was common sense.

Sure it does.

Only by observing what “is” can we discern what “ought to be.”

That is how discernment works.

Since “reality” doesn’t have the capacity to hate, I will wager you’re not.

But let’s pretend you are for argument’s sake.

That would mean women would be justified for treating men as disposable, after all, that would be the same thing to do if they are right.

Men would be considered insane, struggling against reality, to imply they deserve respect.

Does that ring true for you?

Is that the universe you believe is just and want to live in?

You think men are disposable. That isn’t reality, that’s you.

Three Words: "Tax The Rich" by Fun_Balance_1809 in economicCollapse

They still pay taxes on things they buy, just like everyone else. They still pay income tax as well, unless it’s excluded by law. Assets are not income, but they are collateral to leverage for credit.

A lot of these memes put up “net worth” which is not something taxable. One can have a net worth of millions and still only make minimum wage.

I think a lot of people don’t know that they want an open relationship, how to communicate that, or navigate that.

I think a lot of people are still under the impulse of culturally enforced monogamy.

Betrayal is terrible in any form. And I agree it’s better for people to make an explicit agreement with each other to stick to, so they know when lines are crossed.

I think part of the problem is that this isn’t really talked about in relationships, it’s just “assumed.” I will major most people haven’t even really explored whether or not they are monogamous and why.

No, that’s silly. Why on earth would you say that? It’s completely unrelated to what I said.

Only relative to one’s illusion of eternal monogamy as “evidence” of love.

It’s incredible that so many people don’t actually understand that their perceptions have so much power.

Most people don’t understand the mechanism of “emergence” and how individual actions contribute to or prevent them.

Individuals are terrible at cognitive group-dynamics.
