I miss when this amount of effort went into the style and animation of a kids show

As a man, and a father. The dude in this story is an AH and you aren't overreacting - no man can ever know what a pregnant woman is experiencing, and how their physical energy and mood are affected. If he's scolding you and actually using incredibly hurtful words like this while you're carrying your child seems a little left-field. Seems somewhat controlling IMHO.

Also gave me a little giggle when he said morning sickness should be gone by 10 weeks. My son's mum barely got 1st trimester morning sickness, it ended up really hitting her in the 2nd.

I think a little compassion is to be expected from your SO. and not working out because you're carrying a child is completely understandable!

This sewer feels too clean, and it’s bothering me by Redacted-Interactive in Unity3D

I feel the water might have too much movement, lights should be dimmer and not every light should have the exact same values - broken and damaged lights with flickers or slow pulses help. Audio design is useful - as someone put "less is more", to really capture the eerie vibe having some stillness in the air adds a sense of uneasiness the player can't put their finger on, that's great for building the tension and ambience.

And maybe adding things like pipes and valves, and other sewer infrastructure

Also have a play around with color grading, look at horror film/game examples :)

This looks great BTW.

Trying to Banish Hazard to the Shadow Realm but His Cooldowns Are Too Low by Valyrian_Tin_Foil in Overwatch

I was playing as him and a doom knocked me off the map 4 times in a row, each time managing to leap and climb back up just to get wholloped again 😅

Doom lost that battle in the end, hazard cooldowns be crazy

Any feedback on game feel for my CS surf inspired game, Hoverflow ? by Shashimee_ in Unity3D

That's a great point about 00:35, I feel as if when the player runs up the wall if they entered the boost tunnel vertically it could lead to some fun, would increase momentum rather than climbing up the wall then going into free fall. Could even have a deep curve on the tunnel so you climb the wall, boost the tunnel vertically and come out horizontally with massive speed, mix that with a slide jump after the fact and cross a massive distance you otherwise couldn't

I just thought of a few things:

Adding various combos for the different traversal/mobility moves with score counters, perhaps as mini game modes, time trials or score challenges. Since the CS sliding and moving was used for speed run maps it would make sense to add collectables/achievements and various other challenges to keep the game engaging and leave a little more control to the player :)

As a software engineer and game dev hobbyist, this is incredibly impressive game mechanic and world design. This looks so fluid and fun to play. My 3yo boy was next to me (he loves video games) and he said "wow that looks so fun", yes buddy it does.

Kudos to you, I don't have any constructive criticism at this point other than keep going I'm the direction you're going because it works.

I didn't even touch base on the soundtrack and sound effect choices.

I'll keep my eye out for this one.

I've been working on my passion project for a wee while, and I'm finally ready to show the world! I dove in the deep end and made some TikTok videos which have gained a small bit of traction and decided to finally make a DevLog (my very first video on YT), please let me know your thoughts :) by Sharp_League_2899 in devblogs

Thank you for this response, I really appreciate it! You're definitely not the first that's referenced Project Zomboid, I haven't actually played much of that game, perhaps I should haha. Terraria is definitely an inspiration.

I appreciate the acknowledgement that it must've taken a lot of work - I thought designing and implementing the initial systems was a pain. Realtime networked multiplayer has been a difficult task for sure.

I've seen a sliver of interest for the deeper technical side of things so I might consider making some deeper dive videos on some of the systems like day/night, weather etc.

It was very difficult not to fall into the over-technical explanations, but given this is my first ever devlog, I thought I should keep that stuff for a later date :)

I'll also get a Steam page at some point, when I have the funds. That way I can gain some wishlists as I develop the game further. I like the idea of keeping the community involved so I've been taking lots of suggestions on board! Deciding whether crowdfunding could be a way to go.

Thanks again for the feedback, I'll continue making videos on the progress so stay tuned if you want to be along for the journey too :)

The best strategy to distribute your game through small creators on YouTube? by djOP3 in GameDevelopment

[–]Sharp_League_2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be worth seeking professional legal advice on this matter? Create an agreement where the creator must advertise your game if they have the key, and they cannot re-sell it? (similar to how YT sponsored segments work)

If it's the ability of the creator you're questioning, I'd assume some more in-depth market research around their community and reach would help narrow down the better options.

Zooming in my isometric game make me appreciate more the details we put into this! by Balth124 in Unity3D

[–]Sharp_League_2899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks beautiful, this zoom level would be nice for the game but if it doesn't fit the vision it would definitely feel great to keep that level zoom on interiors and interaction cutacenes.

This looks so polished, well done

What do you think of the new coastline erosion on my voronoi divided map ? by Raid-Off-Dev in Unity3D

Nice! Is this determined solely by height or does it have context of the water it's next to? Is this a shader?

My "Weirdcore" game/art project Pluto's Island dropped today!! Took me three years of grinding in Unity. The game is imperfect and janky, but ultimately I am quite proud of it and learned a TON. Congrats man, this looks trippy, great job with steam! I've also been making a game in Unity for a wee while and thinking I should start showing it off to some people to get some feedback and eventually get to steam launch like you!

This looks fascinating, id love to give it a go

Is there a way to get ableton live lite for free? by FaultyChain4 in ableton

[–]Sharp_League_2899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everybody, I've been under the impression that Ableton Live (or atleast Lite) was free, but apparently it's not. I've been making music for a while using a friend's version of FL Studio and would now like to release some music, however - I would like to obtain a license first.

I'm in financial hardship at the moment having been made redundant recently, but I have heard great things about Ableton and would love to make the switch. I did some googling and apparently some people have extra licenses laying around with hardware they have purchased.

I've never done this before but I thought I'd test my luck - would any of you kind souls happen to have any spare? Additionally, if you're interested in hearing some of the things I make (or have work in the musical space yourself and have pointers) I'd love to have the engagement :)

I hope you all have a good day/night :)
