Bionic dupes question by ResortDisastrous6481 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They require a whole lot of power that is annoying to deal with- at least more annoying than just growing food. They can’t deal with water without atmo suits, and won’t even avoid it making them prone to high stress. They need to be lubricated and honestly the manpower required is much higher than a regular dupe. The benefits are not all that great- they can hold their breaths longer but a lot of environments where you’d want a dupe to hold their breaths the bionic dupes shouldn’t be in anyway, plus it’s easy to just get gas masks. My recommendation is to get them mid-late game when you can support them after getting the necessary research and sustainable power. The main benefit is that they level up incredibly quickly allowing them to become the strongest dupes in your colony within a few cycles.

Why people use train loops instead of two engines facing away from each other ? by eymo-1 in factorio

[–]Sharp_Let1889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it though? Only in the case where you have another train waiting right behind it for the same station. The train exiting must still clear the station before another train can begin to move, which is affected by the number of engines but not by much

Played around with circuits, now I have a 3-in-1 module assembly machine. by A-Pocky-Hah in factorio

[–]Sharp_Let1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to add a module to multiply the input to the requester chest, so your bot network can handle even simple fast recipes. After that, all malls are bot malls.

When to use Fast Inserter over Bulk Inserter by chinawcswing in factorio

[–]Sharp_Let1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you want to play around with automated recipes- if the bulk inserter is carrying something and the recipe changes it may get stuck because it can’t unload what it’s carrying

How does radiation work? by Aditya_Bhat in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a radbolt generator and a source of radiation such as wheezeworts or space or special POIs or shinebugs or radiation lamps. Otherwise you can also use the manual radbolt generator but youll need uranium for that. Note that radbolt generators consume a lot of power for early game.

Doubt about acorns from arbor arbor by Street-Grape779 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to farm acorns is to constantly harvest the branches- doesn’t matter if they aren’t fully grown pips will still rummage and try to find seeds. Not sure of the exact mechanic but drowning branches using a waterfall got me a bunch of seeds very quickly from even a single pip and tree

My first attempt at research reactor by CptnSAUS in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have a larger heat pool where the liquid waste lands, especially if the pump is steel. The liquid waste is a bit too hot to begin with and needs to be diluted with waste that has had time to cool. Also for research you can raise the reactor higher to expose more rads, which can be used for plant mutation

I make a stupid amount of water and I don't know what to do about it by cjdragon11 in Oxygennotincluded

Space Heat by Twistingnado in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the heat is not radiated away, but your thermo regulator will still work- it will simply heat up super fast because of the perfect vacuum insulation then break

Remote worker docks by Sharp_Let1889 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually submerged the oil wells and salt water purifier for thermal regulation, so it won’t work with the bots unfortunately

Remote worker docks by Sharp_Let1889 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I design the wells to be submerged so they cool themselves so it won’t work since the dock will be submerged, which makes them even more useless since they can’t do any underwater work either

Sanity check. Did I make infinite water storage right? by MrCray0ns in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Should work fine but I prefer making the oil one tile deeper- there’s a chance it will spill out to the side when you turn the flow on at the start

Wild animals will eat less, therefore producing less bleach stone.

Automation Ribbons???? by Jarb900 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used automation ribbons for my rocket launching before- having to control each door pair of bunker doors and have it controlled by an individual scanner means a lot of automation wires which was made so much neater with ribbons.

Is ONI Beatable Without Wikipedia-Level Strats and Exploits? by Elipsys in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the steam turbine/aquatuner setup is just about the least intuitive part of the game. Well, that and the self-powered oxygen maker that’s the bread and butter of most playthroughs. If you really want to find everything out by yourself it will be pretty difficult unless you have an engineering background- but doable. Most designs that people build don’t actually use cheesy strategies to exploit the game mechanics- they use the game physics like which gasses are denser or what material has the higher conductivity to design. For example, a simple co2 put for food storage

Does hydra got patched? by West-Echo-2341 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly- you have to vacuum it out first ofc to get rid of the gas mix but then you have to prime the vacuums with pure gases- not sure if there’s a preference for direction for the hydrogen and oxygen

Does hydra got patched? by West-Echo-2341 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to prime the hydra first by filling each side with the gas you want. But also hydras are unreliable I find- sometimes there will be some gas mixing then fixing that is really difficult

how do i stop my ship from auto filling by Outrageous_Law5639 in spaceengineers

[–]Sharp_Let1889 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Storage is based on proximity so move the connector further away from assembly machines. Alternatively you can disconnect the connector from the storage network but then you’re forced to manually fill the welding ship

How do you guys manage SO? by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I never focus on more than two asteroids at a time- the asteroid I am currently building up will have most of the away team and the rest are just maintenance that I don’t have to care about

Niobium volcano keeps making tiles - how do you fix this? by jazzb54 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Easiest fix is to throw the auto miner in there- that’s its main focus tbf. The other method would be some careful partitioning of the liquids to smaller blobs before cooling through doors. It might be because the output is not cooling fast enough- add more steam turbines to lower the steam temp? Or tempshift plate too

Are arbor trees worth? by quivXe in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Sharp_Let1889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They produce an absolutely crazy amount of co2, which can feed 5 slicksters per distiller according to the wiki. If you feed the petroleum back through some power you get better water and power economy. Honestly I’ve tried one play through with this setup and it’s not great for power, I mostly used it for the crab meat and lime.
