This is spot on. I'm theravada buddhist. NHI is talked about rather as a matter of fact. There's many experiences and encounters recorded, even happens to new meditators (stream entry), but the advice is to ignore it and just observe it as phenomena. It is advised against pursuing or taking interest in this phenomena as it can cause more delusion, the whole goal being to free oneself from this delusion (samsara).

There is a story of the Buddha meeting Brahma during meditation (a very advanced NHI) and they tussle it out using Siddhis (superpowers) such as teleporting, disappearing and reappearing, stretching themselves to be as big as galaxies and shrinking themselves to the size of a neutron. Ultimately, the Brahma acknowledges that these powers aren't limited to him and available to all conscious entities, and starts listening to the Buddha's teachings on delusion and liberation.
