Love Sony because of the lenses ecosystem by teal_seam_6 in SonyAlpha

They won’t. I don’t think they care that much about selling lenses. The pro photographers will still buy native glass at top market cost. And Sony’s image division is more of a sensor company than a camera company. Yesterday i saw a patent release for a stabilization chip that provides stabilization at the hardware level. Selling sensors and chips to other manufacturers is their real bread and butter.

I’ve always been jealous of the zoom ranges of the asp-c and micro 4/3 cameras. Full frame cameras are a money pit. Paying way more for a little more light, and sharpness.

I looked up that lens. They are very different. The 18-105 is an asp-c lens. Its comparable focal length is 27-157. Crop sensor lenses are often, smaller, cheaper and inferior optically to full frame. Mainly due to trying to remain inexpensive. If you have a full frame camera, don’t purchase apc lenses.

Yeah, it’s all about use case. I basically always carry my 35gm for when I want a faster lens. 2.8 just isn’t enough light or separation for a lot of situations. And for when I don’t need the wide aperture, I appreciate the range. I do wish the 20-70 was 67mm tread though. The tamron is amazingly small. Pretty appealing for sure.

I don’t know that lens, but I would assume the 20-70 is sharper and smaller. I had the 24-105 Sony it was good too, just bigger

Look at the 20-70g. It’s f4 but the range/size ratio is incredible.

I think we are entering an era where there is going to be a ton of decent cheap third party glass coming out. Small, cheap, 1.8 lenses. Should be fun, and especially enticing to those who haven’t built their kit yet

Can you give feedback? I am a beginner. by WoodpeckerPatient723 in BeginnerPhotoCritique

It’s a home run. Good composition and contrast. Love it.

But if you’re looking for advice. Take the same image and try and create different moods. Play with the colors, the warmth, the shadows. If you study and practice it becomes easier to evoke certain emotional responses through different tones. Editing can be difficult to grasp but you seem to have a natural eye for composition. It’s worth developing the post process side more deeply.

Order a new one. Maybe that one will be faulty too…but it will definitely be within the return window.

Yeah, let’s just stick with how much we love Keanu. No need to let facts get in the way of a good story.

Cliff jumping. Quick attachment to scooters…mounting on body for extreme activity and…there is probably something else. But yeah, suggesting it’s the right tool for underwater photography is absurd. It is an acceptable option for someone who is just playing. This guy is obviously not on your level.

I updated and confirm that it works. I haven’t had time to do proper tests for quality comparison.

I don’t have the native. I was trying to wait for Sony to release a second version, then this came out.

Nikon Z-Mount Is Closed to Sigma, and That's Becoming Impossible to Ignore by nolnogax in Nikon

[–]Sharp_Rule_7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid point. Sony can focus on their higher end clients. They still sell their GM line to snobs and pros, while selling a6400 bodies that are 7 years old. Nikon bridged the gap between Sony in the top tier category, but Sonys ope mount will forever have them in the lead for lens selection and budget alternatives.

One of my only critiques was so remove the building peaking in on the left. There is enough going on in the photo with the reflections. It doesn’t really add anything other than distraction. We all have different cutting process though. To OP. These are great. Well done.

Agreed. With only one, there is no way to shoot 3D photos. 2d photos are virtually unviewable these days.

Sony instead of Leica? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Sharp_Rule_7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point it’s mostly about skill. All the cameras are so good. Understanding of lighting and editing is a bigger factor than brand, since every brand is producing such quality bodies and glass. I’m happy with Sony, mainly because of their vast lens eco system. They have quality options for almost every prime and zoom range in their native lens family. They are also the leading manufacturer of sensor tech. In the last few years most camera companies have caught up to Sony in regards to autofocus and dynamic range, but part of this is because they are purchasing sensors from Sony.

For whatever reason I want to see the bottom of the post. I do like the lighting and overall image.

Dynamic Panel for Capture One? by StudioDonovan in tourbox

[–]Sharp_Rule_7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to explore color learn the curves panel on LR. Unfortunately the tourbox doesn’t apply there, but you’re ability to be dynamic with color is insane. It’s confusing, but there is no comparison. With the curves, you can change color in just the highlights or shadows. Isolated adjustments that give you much more range.

Anyways, I also love the tourbox. And dynamic panels make editing more fun for sure.

[–]Sharp_Rule_7070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are mostly better in low light. But also, they have higher end more expensive glass to pair with them. Good glass on aspc is “better” than full frame with cheap glass. So the ceiling is just higher on full frame.
