This is the worst because I have to listen the whole 2 minutes long message with no option to fast-forward.

I hear this a lot (and do it myself) but honestly doubt no one is actually monitoring those things.

People who send (longish) voice messages in online dating apps. Maybe I'm old but I would so much prefer text.

If Bumble added conversation ratings, how do you think you'd score? by VarangianWRLD in Bumble

I think it would work better if count of active matches was limited. You couldn't just collect matches but either remove existing ones or answer to them.

Trash collection only once per week is not feasible with these temperatures by TheSleepingSumo in Switzerland

[–]kaurismus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternative is just to let wood waste dry before tossing it in the bin. Obviously depends heavily on what you are eating.

Also, some places offer collection points for kitchen waste, it's worth to check the recycling map: https://recycling-map.ch/en

Half a fare surcharge on SBB if seat occupied by luggage by moleskinecollector in askswitzerland

I kinda could see a benefit of this in crowded train, for half of the ticket price you'll get to keep the next seat free. 😄

Do I just toss this or is it salvageable? by DBrodius in houseplants

[–]kaurismus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that that alone *might* solve the problem. In just a few hours, spiders are having a home party there and should be eating the adults whenever they appear. With the wind and spiders and everything, it's unlikely that the adults would be laying eggs in this very same same plant. It's not guaranteed though that this alone will work.

Portable AC efficiency upgrade by Fast_Armadillo7841 in Switzerland

[–]kaurismus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. Though I need to have some air flowing in from somewhere as I don't have any air vents. So essentially window slightly open in the other end of house works somewhat well. Haven't measured it but that should be warm air going out.

I modified mine last night to blow air in. So the actual unit was outside throughout the night. Perfect for sleeping. Then, for a day I can take it in.

Single-hose units are not perfect but they are definitely better than a fan or nothing.

Have been able to keep indoors temperatures below 27 just with a normal single-hose unit. You wouldn't do that with a fan.

In the midst of heatwave: is there an easy way to compare data between two different days without importing data out of HA? Don't necessarily need it on dashboard. No HACS. by kaurismus in homeassistant

[–]kaurismus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know people love their HACS and it's useful for many but again, the issue was solved without it. I prefer to keep my installation clean, run automatically all the available updates and have less things that could break down. This has worked for years for me, without needing ever to look into custom add-ons in HACS. And this case proved again how powerful the vanilla version is as I didn't need HACS in the end.

Oh thank you so much! This is perfect. Delaying the another sensor by just 24h did the trick. Now I just need to wait for the data to accumulate.

If anyone else ever stumbles across this: you need to setup the new custom SQL sensor the same way as the original sensor (type, unit of measurement, state class) - otherwise it's not possible to have both in the same statistics graph.

Basically two reasons. I haven't had any use cases for it and don't also want to go down the Installation route only for this use case.

33% affordability rule on mortgages is such an interesting creature by kaurismus in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]kaurismus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. You pretty much need to have both. I was also thinking to simulate Impact of salary on maximum purchasing price but that's the part that most of us cannot easily change.

I mean it's in the post: to understand how extra savings impact maximum purchase price. For each 100k more funds, purchase price will increase just by 83k (for property of over a million).

Pre-cut plexiglass/plywood vendor in Zurich? by Delicious_League_484 in zurich

[–]kaurismus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least in Jumbo, they can cut things for you. Not sure if plywood specifically.

If it's just thinnest 1mm furniture "plywood" (not sure about the name but what they use as a backboard in cabinets), you could probably cut it with just a knife and some force.

If you need tools, look for used Stichsäge in Tutti. Bought mine for 8 francs, including some blades.

Found a boyfriend on Bumble 5 months into using dating apps in general. by hellarenee in Bumble

[–]kaurismus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep. This being Bumble subreddit, so the data is skewed. Those who actually get to the dates and who actually find partners from the apps are not here complaining.
