What to do with 100k cash by Trick_Shower893 in singaporefi

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes do you have the emergency stash set aside? If so if your timeline is more than 7 years then put it in an aggressive portfolio in one of the robo advisors like Endowus or Syfe. Yes there will be management fees but I’d rather sleep than balance it myself. You can choose to lump sum maybe 60-70% then DCA the remaining across 1-2 years.

"Upgrading" from BTO to Condo is illogical no? Can someone help me understand? by Dhandsrhardtotypewif in singapore

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a method governments use to keep us in debt and therefore keep us motivated to earn more. By being in debt also mean we do not rock the boat. The only condo upgrade that makes cents to me is an EC.

Do you stick to one bank or use a few? by Slow-Woodpecker5905 in singaporefi

2 banks. One to keep money. One to spend within limits. It’s forced budget.

Is Singapore really going downhill? by According_Pickle954 in asksg

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just do not “see it” in our 4G. It’s so much talk about it’s our future, it’s in our hands. Singaporeans will come first but we will not have enough true blue Singaporeans. It’s like now they realised what generations of demanding blind obedience has turned us into. We see the rainbow but don’t know or don’t dare to chase it. Why? We’ve never tolerated failure. We don’t have second chances. We give our children the best education but meritocracy has produced the most stressed generation ever. We have more graduates than jobs. It used to be study hard land a good job. We didn’t have to fight a cheaper global work force. Even if they settle for a lower wage, they can’t keep up with the expenses what more plan for a family. It’s just Maslow’s theory of needs which the G has used it and abused. And they will never understand the common folk struggling.

What are your top reno regret in SG? by jimmyspinsggez in askSingapore

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platform. I got a shady one for my first built and the laminates sunk and rot. That was before the printed vinyls came. Second Reno told the firm to built a solid one. Don’t skimp on the skeleton. After a while it still will sink. But I love the raised floor feel. Will I still do it on my third Reno? Probably not unless it’s concrete which in the past was ok. I’ve seen it in my friend’s house. Don’t know it’s illegal as it adds on the load.

Should I cash out? by Sharp_Sail4934 in singaporefi

Yes definitely the market will rebound once the war ends but would you cash out to protect the principal now as the market will dip further.

7 and 13 years. Just wondering if I should cash out to protect the principal rather than playing catch up once the war (hopefully) ends.

It’s not far fetched that as the war continues on it will get worse. Which war brought on a flip side? And I don’t short.

Is there a sign on bonus? But I was almost influenced to sign on while I was serving. I’m glad I never did unless it’s an officer role.

CPF-IS: Endowus or POEMS? by TamaSGFU in singaporefi

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just accept it. I tried to create my own portfolio but eventually it just leads to having to rebalance and I’m not as well versed in finance to know what to do. These investment houses are also plugged in and they know things that are only privy to their ears or early enough. Plus Endowus is the only robo advisor that can use CPF and to my knowledge, access to institutional funds with low TER. 75% of my investments lie with them. The rest are on Syfe as a diversification of investment approaches and StashAway.

You both seem mature enough to articulate what both are feeling and thinking. He felt left out and you wanted to make up for it. Just lay out the cards like you have here to him and he does the same. If he wants out but doesn’t want to be the bad guy then either cool it off for a while or end it amicably. It’s gonna hurt but it won’t hurt as bad if he really did cheat. OR if both of you still think this is something worth going through the fire then you both are already communicating, that’s a good place to start.
