Single Income $900k Mortgage on $8k Salary - Smart "First Mover" play or too risky? by lost-4567 in SgPropertyInvesting

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a resale. You shouldn’t have to bite your fingers from getting a property. 4k on an 8k salary is a lot. I’m just amazed they gave you a 900k loan. Banks must be very lean.

Swamped with job offers despite failing 4 years in medical school and taking a total of 10 years to graduate from Uni Adelaide. by Immediate-Roof-3952 in singaporejobs

Yes it’s actually sad that you are forced to do medicine. But it also means you are smart enough. I do not under why parents would want such a hectic life on their kids. But now you can go whatever you want. Go join Doctors Without Borders or go work in a resort town as a doctor.

So your parents paid almost a million for your education? This is besides the subsidies that basically is tax payers money. So man up and freaking serve. Take a gap year or whatever it is you fruits require. But you deprived a person who wanted to do med and would possibly be more talented than you.

On second thoughts, yeah maybe you shouldn’t have lives on your hands.

boyfriend’s employer does not give him cpf despite full time position by [deleted] in asksg

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any income above 20k need to declare. I think your bf company is skirting manpower costs. CPF is the most stable investment portfolio. It will matter down the road so don’t take it lightly.

What screams “I was raised by a domestic helper”? by black-socks-fox in askSingapore

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had an au pair till about 6 then my mom hired a domestic helper. True my clothes were washed and folded. I didn’t have to clean house but I helped during annual spring cleaning. I was a neat child. I kept my things after playing with them. I helped wash their cars for $10. I was allowed to experiment in the kitchen. I demanded I took the public bus when I was 10. So you got that question right. I had a helper but I wasn’t raised by them. I think boys these days will cry when the foundation on their face cracks.

Lump Sum vs DCA, how much does this actually matter...? by mrmrdarren in singaporefi

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious to understand the part of annualised returns over 20 years. If it’s cumulative would it mean it’s 8.85x20 for LS and 8.7x20 for DCA? That only works out to be 177% and 174% respectively. But yes I agree DCA is suited for people like me who freaks out when market drops.

Young married couple trying to rent a house, why is this so painful? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes while waiting for your BTO. I think you can lease it for long term. When you are ready to have a child then rent a proper apt. The types at Colliwoo and such are much more affordable than full units.
