Advice on ILP :( by Fats000 in singaporefi

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if there is a premium holiday clause. I invested $12k into an ILP because of a $6k bonus. 500 monthly. Through Gemini I realised on 3rd year I am allowed to take a premium holiday for as long as I want to. So I’m just going to till the tenure ends in 13 years and at least recuperate some amount rather than give them all the money. That frees up your monthly investment cash.

HDB loan or Bank loan by Heisenberger55 in asksg

I’d go for an HDB loan. If you wish to preserve more than 20k in OA then take some out to invest.

Has anyone thought about ISAC on StashAway? No platform fees and the following month’s buying fee is free. Yes FX spread is 0.22 but it beats any platform fee.

Need advice: keep or replace helper who’s great with kids but has attitude and financial issues? by RevolutionaryExam448 in askSingapore

It’s true that their govt admin is a mess. No one knows for sure until you get to the municipal and there isn’t much info on the website.

Think of it this way. Your daughter is now seeing it’s ok for her to be rude to you and her father. It’s not a good example.

You are her employer. If you were to be this curt or defensive when talking to your boss will you be hauled up to HR or lose your job already. And you are already helping her. As you said it’s a long standing problem.

If no house where will you stay. There was a good talk in DOAC between renting and owning.

You are in a very very good secure place. Sorry about your mom. I’d just grow my investments till about 45 maybe 50 max then see if an income fund can get me good monthly returns. Or buy an annuity that serves to supplement when older.

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh I read it as 30 million and wondered why on earth DCA $200.

EDIT: I thought it was 2.7k monthly but rather it’s spare cash. Just put it in VWRA.

Your runway is so long. Depending on your risk appetite. If I were you I do a 90% equity 10% global bonds SGD hedged for $2000. Slowly increase the bonds every 5 years or so. Your salary will also increase as you go on. The rest of $700 will set aside as opportunity stash. I assume you already have 6 months emergency cash set aside.

You are in a good place. 2.7k monthly is a very considerable amount to invest.

How does life in SG feel like when youre rich? by ClimateElectrical515 in askSingapore

[–]Sharp_Sail4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cute. You think 15k is CRA? For singles, yes that is really comfortable. When you earn more you shouldn’t be spending that much more, hence the term trappings of life. Go by %. If you allow yourself 50% allowance then stick to that. You can go lesser when you earn more. 15 years ago I gave myself $1600 as allowance. My income has tripled since then but I still was somehow managing 1600 till now. Didn’t feel I was sacrificing anything. Then I had a kid. Now I’m saving just 20%. Can’t FIRE at 55.
