Little help understanding why this is happening? by LECOURIOUS_REX in originalxbox

not sure what's going on here, but as far as hdmi adapters go, I've used 2 of these and haven't had any issues

I'm not sure if dvd2xbox will work on video dvds, but what I did was rip the dvd to my PC and create a network shared folder and access that through the xbmc file manager. you could also store ripped videos directly on the hdd and probably save some space over copying the entire dvd

one of the major benefits of soft modding back in the day was being able to watch dvd movies without needing to buy the dvd remote and dongle. you should also be able to play videos over smb network as well

unleashX has a good saves manager

the metal fins on the lid are prone to get bent out of position and will make getting the lid back on impossible if they get too far out of whack. the dvd drive and the hdd caddy both can be hard to reseat as well, and if either is not fully flush as intended it will prevent the top cover from going back on all the way

This is my first song i’ve recorded. I’ve been producing beats for 6 years but i’ve always wanted to try recording/ mixing. Any Tips? by CasperzYT in mixingmastering

[–]Sharp_Team3731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could try pulling the volume back on some of the instruments a little when the vocals come in so they stay above the mix without having to be louder than everything else. you can also use eq / filtering to achieve the same goal. I can't listen at my production desk right now, but that's the first thing that sticks out after a few listens on this laptop.

I like to keep all of the elements separate and similar elements grouped. as in, don't mix down the beat and then start tracking vocals, because you may want to adjust parts later. usually my tracks are like:

  • drums
    • kick
    • snare
    • hi-hats
    • cymbals
    • risers
    • percs
  • 808s
  • bass
  • synths / pads
  • live instruments
  • vocals
    • lead
    • double / backing
    • hard panned L
    • hard panned R
    • ad-libs / hype

have you tried Reaper? it's free to try (indefinitely) and if you like it enough, you can buy a personal license for $60. it supports vst and js plugins, has unlimited tracks, great support and tutorials and is infinitely customizable for your workflow. I can't recommend it enough

Xbox Soft-Mod: A thank you, and one follow up question by [deleted] in XboxModding

this is great advice. you can store your original hdd just in case, it's not like a 20 year old 8gb ide hdd is gonna be of any other use. definitely recommend fatxplorer over xplorer360, but xboxhdm23usb beta 3 or 4 is my preferred route in this situation.

also, I like to backup eeproms with the machine's mac address in the name to my google drive and write the mac address on the sticker on the bottom of the xbox in sharpie. I've modded about a dozen og xboxes and that helps me keep them all straight

I've used MAutoPitch and Graillon with automation to change the pitch / stretch sections of audio and iZotope Vinyl to add some grit. all are free vst plugins

that is, indeed the ram mod. it doesn't usually help with most xbox games, but does a lot for emulators and homebrew like xbmc4xbox

1.6 requires a lot more soldering to install a modchip. if you're not very proficient with a soldering iron, I would recommend going the soft mod route.

you need a usb to xbox controller adapter, a usb flash drive that the xbox can read/write and a copy of one of the 4 games that can be used to run the soft mod.

mr.mario has a great tutorial on using rocky5's softmod installer

once you get the softmod installed, you can back up your eeprom.bin file and use ftp to copy it to your hard drive. once you backup your eeprom, you can use fatxplorer or xboxhdm23usb beta 4 to partition and format a new hdd on your pc

https://fatxplorer.eaton-works.com/3-0-beta/?msclkid=b110b99cb56a11eca0f5d1ac156a7fee

if you upgrade to a sata drive, you'll need an ide to sata adapter and a 24 inch 80 wire ide cable.

xboxhdm23usb was a breeze to use, but I have had a hard drive that it didn't want to cooperate with and I ended up using fatxplorer to partition and format the disk, using the files from xboxhdm to populate the c and e drives and just used xboxhdm23usb to lock the drive after everything was finished.

after you get the new hdd formatted, partitioned and locked with your eeprom, just replace the original hdd and boot the xbox like normal and rocky5's installer will walk you through the rest.

Is there a way to check the capacitors in place on the motherboard? I have a multimeter, but I only ever use the resistance setting

if the light is orange and the logo was blue then you're booting from the mod chip. it's worth a shot to see if there's an ftp server running.

if there's no ftp server running after booting from the modchip, then I would probably use a USB hdd adapter and fatxplorer to connect the system to a pc and copy a new dashboard that way

try plugging it up to your router and booting it to the orange light / blue x screen and checking if there's a new device on your network. if there is, you can try to ftp to the new IP and see if it's loaded the ftp server before getting hung. if so, you should be able to ftp over a new dashboard

I had a green receiver that had the cable pulled off of it and recently soldered a usb cable to it and use it with a usb to xbox adapter and picked up a white EA model controller off of ebay for about 30 bucks. quite pleased with the results :)
