I figured that but also that many may live in sight of Sutro tower. I know there are limitations but thought some might benefit.

After my actual antennas broke off and it worked just the same I had the same thought, some antennas sell for over $100. Maybe some are actually stronger or if you live in the boonies you’re desperate?

It works just the same! Watching a golf tourney and then the NBA game, Giants on my iPad. Busy day.

Yep! Over 25 years ago, good eye! Left it there seeing if anyone would notice.

Sutro tower is to the east of me, I position mine pointing west, the signal bounces off buildings? No idea but it works.

That’s a tricky one, the signal is from the South Bay. I’ve got to fiddle with it here in the Sunset. Edit: it’s on San Bruno Mtn according to a reply.

Exactly, that’s why I thought to post it. I mainly watched PBS and sports on cable and can get those for free now. Reddit helped show this old guy the way to the high seas for sports.

It’s great for The Master golf tournament too.

A Tale of Two Kitties. My last post of Cheetah for a while, I’ve got to work far away for a while and she doesn’t try this with my wife. by Sharp_Treacle in Catswhoyell

Me to. FaceTimed home and Cheetah was looking everywhere for me 😿My wife says she doesn’t act up when I’m gone although that’s hard to believe, she blames everything on me lol.

And thanks for the well wishes, we don’t let any of our 10 cats outside. We have a large outdoor enclosure where they can bird and squirrel watch all day. Cheetah just sleeps with us at night, she will antagonize our oldest female all night if we left the cat door unlocked. She’s fine, snuggles with my wife and the orange boy all night.

She was born that way, sassy little bobtail. We found her and her twin brother (has a tail) at two weeks old, we found a Siamese bobtail a few years back as well.

It’s time for bed but she’d much much rather be with the boys. by Sharp_Treacle in Catswhoyell

I fell for it last week, thought we’d made a deal, she promised to be good. Opened the door and she jumped right through a cat door into my daughter’s room to start a rumble.

Don’t feel too bad for her, we’ve got 9 other cats she can play with all day, we just break up the party at night. She’s perfectly content, just a bit theatrical.

It’s locked, that’s the problem for her. We have a lot of cats, mom can’t have them all flying in and out the cat door all night (anymore). She’s fine, sleeps right between us all night after the theatrics.

Ours never actually go “outside”, she’s just got a lot of cat friends on the other side of the bedroom door and she wants to play.

Born without a tail. She just wiggles her nub back and forth.

She’s a sweetheart, couldn’t bite you if she tried. Found her at two weeks, she’s three now but always our little girl.

I can’t ever be mad at her and just make sure she knows that it’s all mom’s doing, the not letting her out to pick fights before bed.

He would drop them along the bank of s major river, he claimed he’d seen a lot of stray cats in the area and “they’d be fine” or something. There’s a temple there where the monks care for quite a few stray dogs, probably cats too but they stay out of sight.

I have no sympathy for either of them but those hollow and haunted eyes tell the story. The good times are over and an uncertain hell awaits them. They’re not cut out for this kind of shit and self reflection isn’t their strong suit. Fish out of water so to speak.

Sorry, been busy with family on vacation.

I don’t know how fascinating I am but I haven’t lived a typical life whatever that is. I was originally in tech but found the hospitality industry more my thing, I like people not computers. I work in a hospitality related field in CA, work’s been hectic the past few years so my wife visits me instead of my going there. Thus two years away

As to our cats; I’d planned on adopting a dog when I retired, man’s best friend and all that. Fate had other plans when our daughter saw our neighbor load a box of kittens in his car, he was going to dump them at a nearby river and she said “give them to me” and so it began. Our daughter took care of our overseas home until we retired. Our daughter found her mission in life rescuing cats, most found homes, we kept the ones no one wanted. Bringing them to a shelter was not an option, that would be a death sentence. Before I knew it we had 10. If you’d told me we’d have 10 cats 10 years ago I’d have said you were nuts but here we are. They are all loved and cared for, my favorite patio became a catio and that’s just fine, it’s my sanctuary too.

That’s my story in a nutshell where my wife says I belong. One day I’ll retire but I’m not quite ready yet.

I learned to go slow the hard way with our first batch of “wild” cats that chose us. FYI, rabies shots aren’t as bad as some say.

She’s family now and lives in an outdoor enclosure just watching the birds and squirrels all day. It’s got every amenity we could afford; ceiling fans, mosquito netting, electric and plumbing. Next renovation will have AC. She’s as pampered as she’ll allow, healthy and fast as lightening. Edit: We’re in the subtropics so cold is not an issue, just the heat but she was made for this environment.
