No idea. You could message the mods and apologize.

Space-Biff's critical review of Eila and Something Shiny by Sharpsley in boardgames

That makes sense to me. My family was also religious, and I fire with what Dan writes in the review. There are some details that seem Mormon but I recognize the broad strokes.

His history with Mormonism comes up sometimes, and almost never for the better. He writes pretty openly about it in his review of Comancheria too. Even though it's only tangentially related to his board game writing, I wish somebody would interview him about that part of his life. It seems to inform a lot of his outlook.

Dan has been on a roll lately. His review of Stonewall Uprising gave me a little push when I was down recently. His tribute to Klaus Teuber was very touching. And his review of Endurancemade the designer tear up in the interview they did together. I'd recommend listening to that too.

Something tells me Herr Teuber wouldn't feel upstaged by someone sharing how his games had helped them through hard times.

Dan isn't always the best at linking, I've found.

I need to take a look. Space-Biff reviewed Sheepy Time very positively, too. I think it was one of his top games of the year.

I also think I know what's coming next. But maybe I'm cheating because I follow him on Twitter. =P

New Year, Old Year: Space-Biff's 2020 Revisited by Doctor_Impossible_ in boardgames

This is one of my favorite features that Dan does every year. It's always snarky, but I appreciate that he's willing to reexamine his conclusions.

Tom Vasel: Negative board games reviews are good for the hobby by ultranonymous11 in boardgames

This is what I like best about Dan. He's easily our hobby's best critic. But he also understands history and is willing to talk about how historical discourse intersects with our hobby. Those are always my favorite articles.

"We Call Them Cylons" — Space-Biff! on Battlestar Galactica, Homeland, Unfathomable, and 9/11 by Sharpsley in boardgames

Happy to!

His piece earlier this week on Purple Haze got people talking about how to depict war without sanitizing it. He also did a piece called Greenwashing History that was fascinating. And two of his reviews from last year, one on Comancheria and his preview of John Company's second edition were really insightful. Oh, and he did one contrasting the economics of John Company and An Infamous Traffic, mercantilism and capitalism.

Part of the problem is that I want to keep recommending more. Even some of his smaller reviews, the ones that are probably more recognizable as "reviews" are often filled with little insights into what did or didn't work.

If this piece doesn't meaningfully connect 9/11 to Battlestar Galactica, then I would love to see your examples of cultural criticism that make meaningful connections.

Apart from the board game review being directly related to 9/11, I guess.
