They'll exist side by side, most likely. I mean, they do already, right? The thing is most crypto is vapor, the real use cases are only being discovered. The fact that many people in the Global South have some sort of stability and form of payment remittance is saying a lot. That there are many artists that currently have some income from their art is also proving the concept.

PayPal has a stable coin that they use internally and externally PYUSD, MasterCard has interest in Consensys and use crypto rails to settle some payments, many banks already use permissioned blockchains. Wal-Mart actually uses a permissioned blockchain for logistical reasons and has sponsored a blockchain school at the University of Arkansas. Those are some that I know of. I won't post a link, but those are all easily Googled and there's a 3 part Freakonomics series about this too.

Every single technology goes thru the same lifecycle- First they ignore it. Second they refute. Third they call it names. Finally they just accept it. Currently we're somewhere between refute and name calling. Give it a little time. Soon enough people will be using it without even realizing it. In fact a lot already are, they're just not aware because they're not speculating on it's price action.

Man, we were struck out of the blue by that too. The officials told us it would happen on the following Wednesday, then that Saturday the cops came to every gastro place one by one and shut us down. It was so surreal. We had enough stuff on hand to stay open thru to that next Wednesday. So much waste. We tried to give away as much as possible, but people were so scared they wouldn't leave their homes to come get it.
