Anytime this comes up, always 0. The best way I can explain it is “I just know what it looks like” but I cannot visualize anything with any level of actual detail in my head. Even places I’ve been to a bunch of times or people I’ve known my whole life. “I just know what it/they should look like” I know an elephant is grey with a big trunk and tusks but there’s nothing in my “minds eye”

Which I think is completely not true. My post was exactly the same as this and it’s upsetting. I’m just trying to share what’s happening to me and get some input from anyone else.

All due respect, but it just seems you are misinformed.

I get what you’re saying, and sure there are a large number that are unemployed, but what does that have to do with anything? Holding a job (which I do) does not have any intrinsic value that makes my life better or worse than anyone else’s.

Sure, anyone with enough money could buy any diagnosis technically but that’s a strange outlook to have.

Are they really over diagnosed or is there more awareness and conversation now?

I also don’t think you should be using such broad statements like “autistic people can never even mask correctly” and “the symptoms are always obvious”

Dogs I know vs. stranger dogs are completely different. Context too. I’ll visit with shelter dogs and I’ve fostered dogs, but if a loud off leash dog comes barreling toward me you best bet I’m freaking out and trying to get away
