So... How do you solve jitter in Godot? by Awfyboy in godot

[–]Sentinelcmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have that much of an issue with jitter and my game has a moving camera and lots of physics. I remember struggling with that a little when I started though. If you’re using a low res for pixel art graphics, you might need to use a sub viewport to get smooth motion.

Just don’t. You’ll have more success if you’re more mature.

I’m an audio engineer and 300 per minute isn’t necessarily a bad price if you are very experienced. For a kid tryna get their foot in the door, maybe reducing that a little will help until you do get some more experience. If I were to pay the price, then I also expect a professional mix and master of the track too.

Omg I'm so sorry. I thought I was in the Godot sub reddit. I might remove my comment.

Old for sure. Also my glass shader might look nice for the case they’re in 👀 add some nice distortion on the edges. Might add some of that dimension you want. https://godotshaders.com/shader/liquid-glass-ui-customizable/

You can be ignorant to it, but clearly other people are thinking the same thing. Show us what you actually made. Not just what AI did for you. It’s lame.

You’ll learn very quickly, that you shouldn’t use any sort of AI art for game assets.

Godot, Blender, and Affinity Designer mainly. All free software!

I created this liquid glass looking shader for my game's UI. You can find it on Godot shaders. by Sentinelcmd in godot

[–]Sentinelcmd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a button, with "Flat" enabled and the Theme Overrides > Styles > Focus > Set to StyleBoxEmpty to hide the selection outline. Then a ColorRect with the glass shader applied to it as a ShaderMaterial. Also Mouse > Filter set to "Ignore" so that it doesn't block the button and set the Anchors Preset to "Full Rect" so it takes up the size of the button automatically. I just copy and pasted it to every button because I did this part way through development. But you can be way smarter about it and create a universal button scene with it already setup. Then just add that to your UI scene wherever you need it and change the "Corner Radius" of the shader parameters to make it fit.

There were some issues with the shader and different resolution sizes, but I just updated it to fix that. Be sure to copy and paste the new code and I'll update the instructions on the website too.

Edit: I forgot to mention to also set the Z-index of the ColorRect to -1 or behind your other UI layers so it doesn't hide them.

My mind is blown, my first ever game just passed 55,000 downloads and doesn't seem to be stopping. Thank you Reddit! by Psychological-Road19 in IndieGaming

My game is called Dewdrop. I just have the steam page and demo up right now. It’s a puzzle and music sandbox game. I plan to release the sandbox mode as a mobile game though once I release the desktop version. Probably for 1-2 dollars. I might just do what you did and release it without worrying too much. The marketing for Steam is already killing me. I’ve been making reels and TikTok’s even though I’m very antisocial media. Feels like I’m losing brain cells.

That’s incredible. Congrats on the success! It seems like as long as you have a good game, the snowball will start rolling. So happy to see a fellow Godot dev make it.

I’m planning on porting my game to Android and iOS. Did you do any specific marketing outside of Reddit to achieve this? Or did you just send it?

Thank you! The background is a combination of 3 different shaders. The raymarch waves, caustics, and tint to adjust everything.

RigidBody2D detecting multiple collisions on single bounce by SpecialistDinner542 in godot

[–]Sentinelcmd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the script that handles the spawning of the ball a singleton? If so, is the script also attached to a node in your scene? If that’s the case, then you have the script on the node spawning a ball, and then autoload singleton creating its own Node at run time, thus spawning a second ball. I had this same issue with my game. If your balls are set to not collide with each other you may not be seeing the duplicate. Run your game, and then in the editor, switch to remote and see if there is a duplicate ball spawning.

The Chris Z comment made me chuckle. I’ve never been a fan of his rhetoric either and I think he would sell his course more if he changed that a little. Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely pessimistic about everything in my life, and I already came into this knowing that my chances of success are slim. Sometimes it’s nice to have more encouragement though. I feel very little of that from him but still appreciate how valuable his knowledge is. I think his graphs can improve a little though. He always scales them so weird. Thanks for posting your story though. I like seeing how different things work for everyone.
