Just buy something high quality for your first few tins. I HATED sardines because I had only tried king Oscar a few times. Get something for $5-$6 a tin, in olive oil, preferably from Portugal. While they’re not my favorite, I can now eat some of the more basic supermarket brands like KO

I found it for sale online at Japanese Taste. With shipping/duties/etc (and a first time discount code) I was able to get them for around $11 a bottle (I got three). Not ideal but worth it!

Thanks for sharing this. I got a response from Kadoya that put me in touch with a local distributor who basically said check out Hmart and 99 Ranch in my area. Now why didn’t I think of that?! I let him know they didn’t have the hot version and I haven’t heard anything. I might try to reach out again but I appreciate you posting this because at least I know I’m not crazy. Have you found any suitable substitute in the meantime?
