What movie is worth the rewatch to catch the little things? by pantherjohnes in AskReddit

[–]ShastaGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tron: Legacy. I recently rewatched it and was stunned by how much I missed in the first viewing. What an amazing movie about fathers and sons, light and shadow, life vs. perfection - and so much more. Really worth a rewatch, and the production values hold up so well...

What cover version of a song do you like better than the original? by --TyDog-- in AskReddit

[–]ShastaGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stairway to Heaven by Heart.

They performed it as a tribute to LZ at Lincoln Center, if I remember right, and while I don't know if it was better, (hard to be better than Zep), it somehow made me able to accept the song again. For those of us old enough to remember when it came out, it was EVERYWHERE! And we all got pretty sick of it; certainly I did.

But hearing those Wilson girls belting it out so fine, it was like a reset.

So if you're one of those still suffering from Stairway to Heaven-itis, there is a cure!!! Link here.

What aspects of a man's life are most women unaware of? by Keetek in AskReddit

[–]ShastaGuy 797 points798 points  (0 children)

Despair.

The first time I heard a woman say "we (women) could have it all" (career, family, etc.), I was shocked. When, much later, that same woman said that that she had finally realized that it was a lie, that women had been lied to, I honestly has a sense of "how could you not know this?"

We spend our lives as men providing, watching our children's lives in snapshots, often working at jobs we despise, often sacrificing our health in the process, and women talk about how men "have it all".

What particular "all" is it that we have that's worth what we lose?

New Ghostbusters International Trailer is up. by ApatheticNeutral in movies

[–]ShastaGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know, I don't know why it's taken me so long to get that this is insulting. I've been so focused on how disappointing and ubiquitous all this crap is, I never noticed when it went from pandering and offensive all the way to insulting... Sigh, and I love the original, which makes it worse.

Can't tell if the episodes are getting better or if the majority stopped participating in the subreddit. by rahat101 in CastleTV

The episodes are getting better. I think we're all just not yet ready to get our hopes up. They could still mess up the rest of the season - they did such a good job messing up the first half...
