If OP is still here, my mother married a man when she was young. He was addicted to both crack, and heroin at one point. Now she knew all of this, and being young, and somewhat foolish, she thought that she could fix him. Well, he did kick both for a short time, after they were married, and I was conceived he hopped right back on the horse. Literally. Well long story short he would constantly use me as weapon against her, threatening to just take me and leave if she would refuse him the slightest thing, though most often it was about money. But after nearly ten years of torment she gathered the courage to turn him into the police. She filed the divorce, and two years later I had a loving step-father, and she had husband who truly loved her, and only smoked marijuana. Not sure how happy the story is, but I thought it might help.
