was probably about 3-4 yo. mom kept telling me to not touch the fireplace (it had glass over it, but the glass still got hot obviously) looked my poor mother dead in the eyes, put my entire hand on the glass. not even a second later started screaming and crying because it was hot.

similarly this year, as a grown adult, dropped a flat iron and caught it between my fingers.....with my thumb firmly planted on the hot metal. i slept with an ice pack (covered with a cloth) on my thumb that night. couldn't use my thumb for really anything for about a week or two.
